Year of Wonder Woman

Day 521: General Vertigo
Military dictator and leader of the fishmen of Venus, General Vertigo was faced with a terrible crisis. For their planets oceans were becoming unsustainable to support their species.

Having lived a life of war and conquest, General Vertigo saw the only solution was to take another world through violence and conquer it to save his people. So leading his armies across space to the nearest oceanic planet of Earth, General Vertigo bombarded the planet with venifex capsules filled with Venuesian anesthetics.

And thus the planet Earth lost twenty four hours as the armies of General Vertigo invaded the ocean and began setting up a massive military base in the coral sea, from which they would destroy the Earthlings and become the planets sole species.

The people of Earth awakening from the strange event were baffled by what had transpired. Scientists studied but to no avail, and even Wonder Woman and the Amazons were confused as they had been similarly affected.

Investigating however, Wonder Woman discovered a magpie that remained unconscious and found it had discovered a piece of metal. Saving the bird, she found it was part of a capsule made from the alloy Venifex, which can only be found on planet Venus. And that it contained traces of some sort of anesthetic gas.

Thus Wonder Woman headed to planet Venus to find it being protected by a laser defense grid and getting past that, she found the oceans of Venus were drying out and becoming uninhabitable for the fish folk of the world who upon seeing Wonder Woman, tried to attack, declaring that she would not stop them from conquering the Earth!

Retreating from Venus, Wonder Woman discovered reports of submarines and ships being lost in the Coral sea and heading to investigate, she discovered on the ocean floor, General Vertigo and his men had developed a collection of massive gas canons which he would use to administer a permanent anesthetic effect within the Earths atmosphere, putting the air breathers in a permanent stasis!

Seeing the captured submarines and ships, Wonder Woman went first to rescue them, but was to late to stop General Vertigo who began to fire his canons...When the intense shock wave from his gas guns caused a volcanic event, leading to magma to come pouring out and a volcano to come up from the ocean where the now dead General Vertigo and his soldiers had been.

With the sailors safe and General Vertigo killed by his own efforts, Wonder Woman headed to Venus and helped to restore their oceans to their original glory, and invited them to come to Earth in peace whenever they wished.

Day 522: Sunny South
Student of the Holliday college, and major in ecology, Sunny South is the youngest member of a wealthy southern family based out of the missisipi bayou. Born and raised in a mansion accessible only by boat in the middle of the swamp, Sunny is at home in the crocodile infested wilderness.

Falling ill one day, Sunny headed back home where remained bed ridden for several weeks and with a looming test, Etta Candy and several of the Holliday girls took it upon themselves to pay her a visit and help the sickly Sunny cram for the test so that when she was able to return to the college, she would ace it with flying colors!

Upon arriving however, they found Sunny walking around, however the southern bell explained that while she feels fine at home, the moment she left the swamp she became terribly ill again, citing the fresh air of the swamp as the source of her current good health.

Further, Sunny warned the Holliday girls it was dangerous for them to be there, as someone was after her life! Etta naturally asking what Sunny meant, listened as Sunny explained that her grandfather Colonel South, an elderly man who had fought in the civil war was on his last legs and near death. This had led to all of her relatives to come from across the world to the quiet Bayou manor in an effort to get on the dying colonels good side in the hopes that he would bequeath his entire fortune to one of them.

And in the process, Sunny had already faced two attempts on her life by what she presumes to be a family member whose trying to kill off the competition! The first time, she was retiring to bed when she found dozens of poisonous snakes under her covers which she took for a simple freak occurrence. However shortly afterward Sunny was about to enjoy dinner and the family dog leaped up, stealing her meal and promptly died of poisoning!

Thus Sunny fearful for the safety of her college friends, urged them to leave however she underestimated Etta Candy and her fellow Holliday girls who with a 'WOO WOO!' Declared that they would stand by Sunny South and ensure that no harm would come to her!

And Etta Candy wanting to make doubly sure of that, telepathically contacted Wonder Woman to let her know about the situation.

Day 523: Johns Tanner
Owner of a tannery by the same name, Johns Tanner is the latest in a long line of tanners and is one with a willingness to help those trying to turn over a new leaf. In fact, John Tanner has made a point of opening his doors for ex criminals in search of work, for he knows that it is impossible for someone to turn from a life of crime and become a productive member of society if it is impossible for them to find work.

However tragedy struck when one day a freak accident led to his tannery being burned to the ground! Johns Tanner pulling out his savings, sought to get it rebuilt as soon as possible, however contractors said it would be six months before it could be done. Meanwhile, a number of people who were on parole were suddenly being rejected because they had no job prospects once they were out of jail due to the lack of the tannery.

However who should arrive but Wonder Woman! For the Amazonian princess having become the chairman of the parole board, sought to redeem people and better them, and wished to give anyone an opportunity to be rehabilitated and reformed. So upon hearing about the tannery burning down and with everyone else on the parole board refusing to consider letting anyone out on parole if they didn't have a job lined up, Wonder Woman dashed off to John Tanners burnt wreckage of a property and promptly began rebuilding the place as good as new, doing in a few minutes what would have otherwise taken several months!

And thus returning to the parole board, Wonder Woman announced the good news and saw to it that those criminals seeking the chance to do good were given that opportunity.

Day 524: Laird Brand
Uncle of Sunny South, Laird Brand like various other relatives of the aging confederate civil war colonel Colonel South, journied to the Missisipi Boyou mansion estate in order to cling to the dying wealthy man in the hopes of getting a good sum of his fortune in the will.

Constantly arguing with fellow relatives Sabrina Harrow, Globe Trotter, And Munni Grubber, Laird Brand constantly argues over which one of them deserves the vast wealth more. And conveniently ignore Colonel Souths own opinion, for the colonel declared that he had no intention of letting 'any of you leeches get a dime of my money!'

For Laird Brand especially though, that fortune is vital for Laird happens to be an obsessive gambler who was heavily in debt. So much so that it would take Colonel Souths entire fortune to cover the amount he owes.

So when the family dog died, Laird chortled with glee, declaring the dog would not inherit. When an elephant stampeding through the swamp nearly crushed Sunny South, he was disappointed that it failed to kill one of his relatives. When the Holliday girls including Sunny went for a dip in no-croc pond and an avalanche of canoes fell upon the Holliday girls, he was jumping for joy...Until the girls were carried unharmed from the water by Wonder Woman who quickly arrived to their rescue.

Between Laird, Sabrina, Munni, and Globe, there was no shortage of competition for that vast fortune.

Day 525: Tom Stone
Son of Hard Stone, bank teller in Hilltown, Tom lived a happy life with his father until one day tragedy occurred. For the bank was robbed and his father was the one blamed for the theft. Left to raise himself, the young teenager wrote to his father every day, promising to save up enough money to afford a lawyer and free his father who was accused of the robbery by the bank owner himself.

Jason Lane owner of said bank gleefully mocked Tom Stone for his imprisoned father every time he passed by, attempting to drive Tom to attack him so that the young teenager could be jailed as well. Facing all manner of obstacles from the bank trying to claim ownership of their private property, to the bank vanishing their life savings to working a part time job after school to pay his way, Tom Stone was going through hard times.

One day however Tom heard about how the nearby town of Moonville was offering a $500 prize for anyone who could get through 'the ride of death' a deadly bicycle obstacle course which involved a loop de loops, a ring of fire, a leap over a crocodile filled tank of water, all of which done fifty feet off of the ground!

Tom convinced he could use that money to get a lawyer good enough to prove his father innocent, left for Moonville on bicycle, a trip which would take a couple days.

Due to the improbably speedy postal service of the 1950s, Hard Stone noted that he went two days without getting a daily letter from his son and began to panic! Knowing that he had a parole hearing that day, Hard Stone took advantage of it to contact Parole chairman Wonder Woman and begged her to check in on his son for he was worried!

Wonder Woman naturally enough declared she would go check up on him and leaped from the window to check on Tom Stone, and found that the bank had been robbed once again, and that the head of the bank was accusing Tom Stone of robbing the place just as his father had, for criminal behavior is genetic!

Wonder Woman not buying that, checked Toms house and finding a flyer, realized he was in Moonville and ran to meet him. Unaware that someone was after young Toms life.

Day 526: Z-One
Cunning mercenary master spymaster, Z-One is a cautious and dangerous covert mastermind who has brought whole nations to their knees. Contracted to do the same to the united states, Z-One journeyed into the country, his true identity never revealed, and he carefully began to recruit individuals within the nation to help him destroy the nation from within.

Working quietly for a number of years, Z-One avoided detection until it was nearly time to enact his master plan. Beginning by attempting to use one of the countries own atomic bombs upon Washington DC, his plan was to sow chaos and instability as his forces took control of a nation cut off from itself.

However before his plan could be put into motion, the agents attempting to procure the bomb were caught by Steve Trevor and with the help of Wonder Woman, they soon discovered the existence of Z-One and his cunning operation.

Organizing his operation into a number of cells, Z-One ensured that Each cell operated autonomously from one another with no knowledge of one anothers operations, with Z-One as the only one aware of the full scope of the plan. With each cell leader recruited from within various levels of the countries industries, they were each trained by Z-One himself and in turn organized countless smaller cells with their own leaders which only they themselves were aware of.

By the time Steve and Wonder Woman had discovered the operation, Z-One was on the verge of making his move and they knew that they must act fast! With Philip Darnell joining them on the hunt, they went after suspected minions of Z-Ones and eventually gained information that he was holed up in a light house on an island off the coast. Thus the three of them stormed the light house, only to discover it was all a trap set by Z-One! For knowing his plan would fail with Wonder Woman in the way, concocted a cunning scheme to trap her and the two highest ranking operatives in army intelligence.

Trapping them in a cage of unbreakable glass which was filling with mustard gas, Z-One set a series of explosives within the light house to explode with only a minute on the timer. Certain Wonder Woman would eventually escape the prison, he was counting on the explosion finishing her off.

Thus running from the light house and leaping into his speed boat, Z-One fled from the light house shortly before it exploded! However as fortune would have it, so did Wonder Woman who after using the edge of her bracelets to cut the glass, she carried out an unconcious Steve and Philip. Noticing the explosives, she climbed to the top of the light house and calling her invisible plane, she leaped high into the air as the light house exploded, landing upon her plane as it came to her rescue.

As for Z-One, as ill fortune would have it, the debris from the exploding light house traveled quite a distance and the lantern for the light house happened to smash into his speed boat, killing him instantly as it sank into the ocean.

And thus the nation was faced with a dreadful spy organization with tens of thousands of operatives, with no way to discover their true identity until it was to late to act. For Z-One had even made allowances for his plan to succeed even upon his death.

Wonder Woman Character of the Day

Day 527: Jason Lane
Corrupt and dirty banker, Jason Lane is a criminal fiend who uses his position to quietly fund money out of accounts and into his own. Throwing his weight around under the illusion of being a pillar of the community, Jason Lane would forclose on houses not in mortgage, embezzle from his own bank, and did so with the help of dirty debt collector Meen Tuller.

However one day law officials suspecting something was afoot at his bank began to investigate and in an effort to throw police off, Jason embezzled a large amount from the bank and pinned the crime on bank teller Hard Stone who was blamed for every criminal act Jason Lane himself perpetuated.

With Hard Stone jailed and the investigation resolved, Jason Lane was sitting on a pretty penny of valuables and goods. Especially after his last major act of embezzlement. So inspired by this was Jason Lane that a year later he decided to do it again! The problem was finding someone to pin the blame on...

And in the end he decided to pin it on Hard Stones son Tom Stone. Harassing the lad for months in an effort to make him lash out in public at him, Jason Lane was frustrated by the lad not taking the bait. Having Meen Tuller stalk the boy, he soon discovered Tom was leaving town and decided to declare Tom Stone robbed the bank so he could empty it out himself!

And to ensure Tom could not defend himself, the bank manager ordered Meen Tuller to kill Tom Stone to ensure he would never get to talk to the authorities and 'reveal where he hid the loot'

Thus Meen finding out Tom was heading for 'the ride of death' he sabotaged the track so that the ramp supports would give out, killing Tom as he rode down with the bicycle.
But just before that villainous crime could go into effect who should arrive but Wonder Woman?!

Discovering Tom just as he was going down the ramp which began to collapse, Wonder Woman leaped into the air, lifted Tom off of the bicycle, climbed onto the bike herself and with Tom sitting piggy back atop her shoulders,wonder woman lassoed the loop de loop up ahead and byicylced in midair above the colapsing ramp, speedily competing the entire obstacle course! All with Meen Tuller firing bullets at Tom which Wonder Woman effortlessly deflected.

After finishing the race, Wonder Woman lasso'd Meen who confessed to being Jason Lanes minion and going back to lasso Jason, she uncovered his criminal wrong doing, leading to both men going to jail and Hard Stone being pardoned.

Thus since Hard Stone was the most experienced one in town, he became the new head of the bank, and Tom Stones had his father back once again.

Day 528: Gordon Smythe
One of the three cell leaders under command of Z-One, Gordon Smythe is head of a naval manufacturing plant which developed submarines for the military. Recruited by Z-One, Gordon Smythe was placed in charge of operations across Eastern America and had hundreds of cells established, with the goal to cripple the military and destroy every major branch of government. He planned to personally lead a fleet of submarines to at the appointed time, destroy every naval base and harbor across the country.

With the likes of Gordon spread out across the united states, Wonder Woman and Army Intelligence were helpless to flush them out, especially with Z-One dead. However with brilliant reasoning, it occurred to Wonder Woman that nobody in Z-Ones spy ring had ever actually met Z-One face to face, and thus none of them knew his true identity.

Thus Wonder Woman spoke with Philip Darnell and Steve Trevor, and with them agreeing to help her...Wonder Woman was publicly arrested, for she was in truth Z-One! For the one flaw in Z-Ones operation was that while his anonymity protected him and rendered him safe, it also allowed others to handily impersonate him!

Thus Wonder Woman was publicly arrested and in front of several cameras she arrived at the court house in handcuffs to be tried and sentenced...When she suddenly made her escape by leaping into the air, landing upon a car an leaping away from moving vehicle to moving vehicle with her hand cuffs still around her wrists~!

Heading for the lighthouse island, Wonder Woman waited, and soon she was greeted by Gordon Smythe who came up in a submarine. Assuming Wonder Woman to really be Z-One he boasted his surprise to discover that the great hero was in truth the spy master plotting to destroy the nation. Offering Wonder Woman safe passage to his safe house, Wonder Woman accepted, startling Gordon.

Declaring that Wonder Woman was a fraud, he had his sub submerged and engaged auto pilot, sending it out to see while he climbed inside of a hollowed out torpedo and launched himself to shore!

Wonder Woman noticing the torpedo, worried that innocents would be harmed and went after that first, and by chance discovered Gordon inside! Lassoing him, Wonder Woman discovered from Gordon that Wonder Woman had failed to speak the secret phrase 'Detinu' which the real Z-One always stared his messages with to prove his identity.

Quietly smuggling Gordon Smythe back to army intelligence, Wonder Woman used the magic lasso to find out about the various cells, and would go on to help capture those cell leaders, uncover the cells they made and so on until even the lowliest grunt in Z-Ones spy ring was dismantled.

Day 529: Globe Trotter

Twin brother of Vance Trotter and grand son of Colonel South, Globe like all of his relatives heard how the ancient civil war general was on his last legs and hurried to the bayou manor in the hopes of getting their hands on his vast fortune. Globe Trotter and his identical twin brother Vance lived in Africa and owned a pygmy elephant preserve where they could frolic and be free.

However before the twin brothers could make the journey from their African Elephant preserve to the states, tragedy struck, for Vance coming down with a rare disease, perished overnight. Grief stricken, Globe buried his brother privatly and prepared to break the news to his family, when a dark idea came upon him...

For taking advantage of his brothers identical appearance, Globe Trotter could murder all of his relatives, blame it on Vance, and then let Vances body conveniently turn up, partially devoured by crocodiles! His plan was fool proof!

But first he needed to GET his brother there. Thus Globe Trotter using a tape recorder, prepared a number of prerecorded messages that Vance would supposedly say, and forced his non english speaking butler to dress up as his brother, with a blanket over him to keep the differences from being obvious.


Then arriving at the mansion, Globe claimed that Vance had suffered a nervous break down and could not be disturbed by anyone, and arranged for a private room wherin Globe Trotter would out of brotherly concern, take all of his meals in his brothers room, insisting that only he could visit Vance.

However an unexpected complication struck when Globe received news that poachers had nearly gotten into his pygmy elephant preserve. Fearing for his elephants, Globe hurried back to Africa, leaving his butler with a collection of pre recorded messages, a poorly made costume and instructions to leave food at the door.

And thus Globe wanting the money but unable to abandon his elephants, transported the entire herd of pygmy elephants across the ocean and settled them on the swamp island of the bayou.

Having returned, Globe discovered people were growing skeptical about Vance Trotter so sneaking back into 'his brothers' room, Globe dressed himself up in his brothers clothes and began pounding on the window, screaming at members of his family, declaring that he would kill them all and how they were all out to get him!

Sneaking back out, Globe took to doing at least one such outburst per day, and began concocting ways to assassinate his relatives. Knowing that Colonel South favored Sunny South, he went out of his way to try killing her specifically. From driving his elephant Tuska to charge at Sunny, to poisoning, to concocting terrible accidents.

However with Etta Candy and Wonder Woman watching out for Sunny, Globe was at his wits end! Finally, he decided to just go all out and murder everyone! Starting with Colonel South himself, Globe Trotter filled his room with poisoninous gas and entering to 'discover' the body, Globe found a furious colonel south with a rifle!

Dodging a shot meant for his head and shooting his grandfather in the heart, Globe leaped out of the window and tearing at his clothes, he entered the manor in a panick, declaring that his brother Vance Trotter had murdered colonel south, and had run into the wild!

For Globe had a most diabolical plan he had concocted after murdering Colonel South involving the sabotage of the boats for escaping the island, and the slow and methodical murder of his relatives one at a time until only he was remaining...

However Globe Trotters schemes crumbled in the face of Wonder Woman! For Diana spotting Globes unnamed butler tending to the elephants, she struck up a conversation with the man who was very excited to speak with someone who understood him and he told Wonder Woman everything! About how Vance had died, how he was forced to dress up, how he spent weeks locked in a room, and how Globe Trotter refused to explain any of what he was doing to him!

Thus Wonder Woman confronted Globe Trotter and lassoing him, made the fiend confess to his crimes, leading to Globe going to jail, and Sunny South who was willed the entire South fortune swore to care for the pygmy elephant herd.

Day 530: Waldo Nordo

Manager of the Ajax steel mill, Waldo Nordo was one of Z-Ones cell leaders, and head of operations on the west coast. Having hundreds of splintered cells under his control, Waldo was focused upon inserting men into steel mills across the country, and slip a chemical formula into the smelters which would cause the metal to later break apart.

Intending to destroy the very foundations of the nations defense, Waldo was on the verge of success...When who should arrive but Z-One in his secret identity of Wonder Woman~

Indeed, Wonder Woman who was posing as Z-One had discovered from Gordon Smythe that he had been plotting to kill off his fellow spies and get their slice of the pie when it was all over. And that in his effort to do so, he had discovered the identity of his counterpart on the opposite side of the country, Waldo Nordo.

Thus Wonder Woman journied to the small out of the way steel mill in the tiny one job town and met with Waldo in his office. And remembering the secret code word she had learned from Gordon Smythe, she began introductions by saying 'Detinu' Which unfortunately was the wrong code word as Z-One had used a seperate password for each of his agents as a security measure.

Thus diving into a chute leading to the smelting rooms precarious catwalk over the vats of boiling metal, Waldo pulled a lever, so that the chute led directly into the vat. And thus Wonder Woman fell....And lasso'd the catwalk and began to climb up.

Screaming in panic and declaring no woman shall ever best him, Waldo ran across the cat walk to try untying the rope, only to trip and fall into the vat of boiling metal! However before he could fall to his death he was rescued by none other than Wonder Woman!

While Waldo sobbed and begged for his life, Wonder Woman began spinning in circles in midair, causing the magic lasso to tighten and shorten until she was arms length from the platform. Leaping onto it and untying the lasso, Wonder Woman bound Waldo with it and discovered the formula he had placed in steel mills across the country.

Thus taking a sample to Paula Von Gunther who developed an antidote, Army Intelligence sprayed every bit of metal with this anti-fatigue formula to save it from collapse. As for Waldo, he wound up in jail, along with his many subordinates who would follow.

Day 531: Professor Captain Seadunk
Holliday college professor of oceanography, Professor Seadunk specializes in the Sargasso sea, with a particular fascination with the region southeast of Bermuda which he declares has been the final resting place of many a ship.

The fact that several of these ships were known to carry vast amounts of wealth and gold is possibly a contributing factor to his interests. Going on to explain that this was a special sea where ocean currents from across the world flowed into it with no current coming out, Professor Seadunk was convinced that the Sargasso sea was the center of the ocean.

Having spent forty years of his life studying and sailing the sargasso sea, Seadunk memorized every square inch of that oceanic region, all save for those areas with the harshest currents which pushed back his every attempt to sail them. Thus for five years he toiled, working away at developing an engine which could achieve this feat, and did so while serving as a professor at Holliday college.

Once his engine was complete, Professor Captain Seadunk declared that his entire class (which naturally included Etta Candy) Must join him on this venture and established that completing the voyage would count towards 100% of their final grade!

Surprisingly getting his entire class to join him, Professor Captain Seadunk embarked on a voyage to the Sargasso sea upon an ancient wooden galleon modified to have an engine propelling it from beneath the vessel.

But as he was about to leave, Diana Prince jumped aboard, for Army Intelligence having lost several ships to the Sargasso Sea, ordered Diana to join the expedition and recover any military secrets which might remain within the sea which Professor Seadunk intended to research.

Day 532: Derek Waters
The final cell leader directly over Z-One, Derek Waters was an engineer who mannaged Mammoth Mountain dam. He oversaw cells across the central united states. Under his work, he had cells created with a focus on vital American infrastructure from farms to railroads to dams to power plants. With directions to with a single command, bring it all crashing down.

Only Z-One was aware that the efforts of Derek Waters with the aid of Waldo Nordos steelworks sabotage and Gordon Smythes destruction of ports and naval bases would bring the country to shambles.

Between the two captures cell leaders, Wonder Woman worked out how agents usually got word to Z-One and looking into it, she found Derek Waters had been trying to contact Z-One for further instruction, as he had been ordered to begin operations the moment Washington DC was destroyed.

Revealing in his message that he was waiting at the dam, Wonder Woman proceeded to journey to every single dam in the country until she found someone who greeted her as Z-One. Derek seeing Wonder Woman walk in was suspicious of Diana and had his hands on the dam control switch which if pulled, would cause a flood of water which would destroy the town below.

Greeting Wonder Woman carefully, he was prepared to pull the switch if Wonder Woman failed to state the password...Fortunately Wonder Woman recalling the other two passwords were 'Setats' and 'Destinu' that the third password must be 'Acirema' and stating as much, Derek Waters breathed a sigh of relief and letting go of the switch, he opened a drawyer to pour Wonder Woman a drink, apologizing for his suspicion.

However as he came back up holding a bottle of whiskey, Derek Waters found himself caught in the magic lasso, the last of Z-Ones big bosses captured and their cells neutralized, ending the threat to the nation.

Day 533: Daring Dorpo
Leader of the Dorpo roof gang, Daring Dorpo was a talented acrobat who traveled through Africa and France, honing his craft before returning to America and took on a life of crime.

Convincing a group of criminals to work for him, Daring Dorpo trained them all in acrobatics, to aid them in committing crimes that police would be incapable of preventing. They would do this by climbing atop of buildings, and leaping roof to roof, traveling unnoticed by people on the ground, and allow them to slip around unnoticed by any law officials who may be on the look out.

Climbing above banks, they would cut a hole into the vaults roof and propelling down on ropes, fill bags full of money and make their escape with none the wiser until someone entered the vault to discover the gaping hole in the roof.

Confident of his talents, Daring and his henchmen committed a crime spree, robbing eight banks in a single week. However at that point police had worked out how Dorpo and his gang were doing it and working out where Daring and his men would rob next, they waited until they began to rob the bank and had the building surrounded from roof to ground level, with Daring Dorpo and his men left with nowhere to run!

Under siege, Daring Dorpo and his gang of trained acrobats went from tumbling professionals to panicking felons. Pulling out guns, they began wildly shooting at anyone they saw be they police officer or civilian, declaring themselves under siege.

Fortunately before anyone could get hurt, Wonder Woman arrived to save the day! Leaping upon the roof and deflecting each and every single bullet without effort, Wonder Woman lasso'd the lot of them, handing them over to law enforcement.

Day 534: Princess Althea
Ruler of the Sargasso sea, Princess Althea originally hailed from ancient Greece where she ruled a province with love and peace. However the province was conquered by Romans who enslaving her people, loaded them all onto a surprisingly roomy slave gally to be hauled off to Rome. Where the villainous Roman general gloated that selling them would make him richer than Cassius the banker.

However as the Roman invaders were hauling Princess Althea and her people by boat to roam, a savage storm ripped the mast off of the ship, lead to many a roman being injured or lost at sea, and the prisoners to be freed in the process. The lot of them now lost at sea.

With the remaining Romans including their general battered and injured, they were at the mercy of those they conquered and enslaved but rather than take their revenge, Princess Althea commanded her people to tend to the injured.

With no sign of land and rations low as much of the cargo was destroyed in the storm, Princess Althea commanded her people to begin harvesting from the ocean and the Greeks being from an oceanic province, were soon feeding themselves and the Romans with fish and seaweed.

The roman general shocked by this treatment got down on his knees and bowed to Princess Althea along with his men, swearing fealty to her forever more for her kindness in sparing them.

And thus the ship would wind up in the Sargasso sea, home of the shipwrecked for every ship lost at sea would eventually make its way to those waters. Althea being wise beyond her years, would be accepted as their leader and soon every shipwrecked crew who made it to the Sargasso sea would be numbered amongst her new naval nation.

The people of the Sargasso sea would go on to develop many incredible and advanced technologies. Finding a means of rendering ships airtight and using seaweed to replenish air, they sank their ships to the ocean floor and went on to develop an undersea colony of ships connected together. And they would survive off of the local wildlife and cultivation of undersea gardens.

Creating diving suits and submersibles over a thousand years before the rest of the world, they would use this technology to rescue any who wound up stranded in the Sargasso sea. Later even developing a weather machine so they could ensure calm weather to keep passing ships safe from harm.

However the greatest discovery made by the people of the Sargasso sea would be a special 'immortality herb' which found growing on the ocean floor, allowed the people of the Sargasso sea to live unaging so long as they ingested it daily.

Thanks to this, Princess Althea rules her people to this day.

535: Mary Ellen and John Lane
Rivals since toddlerhood, Mary and John have been at odds trying to one up one another since they were babies fighting over a lolipop. Continuously dueling to one up one another time and time again, they would mannage to end up in the same classes together in every year of school. Wind up in the same college. Choose the same majors.

Be it baseball or journalism, the two of them are constantly at it, trying to determine who is better and this led to them eventually both applying for a job at the Daily Globe. However the editor of the paper declared that he only had one opening, thus the two rivals must compete to decide who gets the choice job!

The two are given an assignment to gather information on Wonder Womans complete origin story. A challenge worthy of front page news!
The specifics: How did Wonder Woman meet Steve Trevor? Who designed her costume? How does the magic lasso work? Why does she wear bracelets? Why are men not allowed on Paradise Island? How does her plane work?

Thus the two set off to make the news! However John Lane playing dirty, snuck a tracking device onto Mary Ellen in the form of a gifted bracelet so that he could follow her, for he was confident that Mary would doubtless track down the truth before he could.

As luck would have it just as Mary Ellen began driving from the Daily Globe, Wonder Woman was contending with a group of robbers who shooting at her as they sped down the road, were desperatly trying to slow down Wonder Woman by forcing her to split her focus between running and deflecting bullets with her bracelets.

Mary Ellen having gotten a flat tire, was stopped on the side of the road when she saw this and pushing her car into the middle of the road, she forced the robbers to break and in a fit of rage, they shot at Mary, only to be stopped by Wonder Woman who rounded up the criminals without anyone being hurt!

In gratitude, Wonder Woman asked Mary what she could do for the brave young woman and Mary Ellen explained how she was trying to get a job, and this led to Wonder Woman flying Mary to Paradise Island and leading her to the hall of the Amazons where the Vision sphere was located!

Thus Mary Ellen (and readers) are treated to a retelling of Wonder Womans entire origin story and the details she was asking about. However just as Mary Ellen was wrapping up her notes, John Lane who had rented out a plane to follow Mary, was crashing on the island! Wonder Woman leaping to the invisible plane with Mary under one arm leaped to his rescue and lassoing the plane, she pulled John out, and sat the two in her invisible plane while she reeled in Johns to be returned to the mainland.

Mary and John rather shaken by the near death experience, held eachother and in a mess of babbling, revealed that their constant childish rivalry had been masking their deep love for one another!

And thus declaring that they will work together or not at all, they stormed into the editors office with the story and threatened to give it to another paper unless he gave them both jobs at the Daily Globe!

Day 356: Master De Stroyer

Alien invader from planet Destructive, De Stroyer invaded the planet Earth and hid away in its vast oceans, taking advantage of the humans being blind to the goings on within 2/3rds of their planet.

Landing their space ships in the Sargasso sea, they discovered the secret kingdom and conquered it, imprisoning their queen and forcing the people of the sea into slavery. From there, De Stroyer intended to obtain the Earths nuclear weapons which were more destructive than anything on planet Destructive, which they would use to destroy all who stood in their way!

However having little luck, De Stroyer began using the weather machine of the Sargasso people to cause ships to sink so he might use the enslaved Sargassoians own technology to capture surface dwellers in the hopes of eventually finding someone with the nuclear bomb formula.

However when one of their captives reveals the existence of the atomic motor, a propulsion device which would double their current space travel time, De Stroyer and his men began to focus on acquiring that instead, for it would allow them to bring their entire fleet to defenseless worlds.

With the red seaweed forest which posessed paralyzing properties surrounding the Sargasso kingdom and a weather machine to sink any vessel which came near, De Stroyer's position seemed secure with no one capable of standing in his way!

However little did De Stroyer realize when capturing Captain Professor Seadunk and the Holliday girls that he gained the attention of Wonder Woman.

Day 357: Electro
Head scientist of the criminal underworld, Electro is renowned throughout the dark underbelly of the felonious underbelly for his unparalleled scientific mind. A mind which he puts to use in aiding his fellow criminal nare do wells in their unlawful endevors...For a price.

If a criminal wants a gravity gun, they go to Electro who whips one up, so the fiend can declare themself leader of the gravity gang.
If a criminal wants a squadron of jets so they can commit crimes at mach 5, they go to Electro who for a sack full of money makes those jets so a group of petty thieves can start calling themselves the jet gang.
If a criminal wants an array of trick grenades with a multitude of uses and they have the money, they go to Electro and he will set them up.

Electro is the scientific mastermind who many a criminal gang owe their entire theme to. However after client after client wound up jailed by Wonder Woman, Electro's reputation suffered. For if a criminal can still be captured even with a state of the art invention of Electros, then what good is he?

Thus for the sake of proving his genius, Electro began working on an invention which even Wonder Woman could not stand against! He invented...Robot Woman! Identical to Wonder Woman in every way, this robot possessed strength and speed equel to her own. But with an indestructible form, malleable joints, and electrified surface which made it a danger to anyone.

But the thing that made Robot Woman the most challenging of opponents for Wonder Woman was that it lacked free will, meaning the magic lasso could not affect it. Instead, Electro controlled it himself using an electronic switch board and a variable television (A television which would display a specific object from a third person perspective.)

Unveiling his creation to the leaders of the criminal underworld, Electro was met with plenty of skepticism but as the robot duplicate of Wonder Woman began robbing banks while the crooked kingpins sat back and played poker, Wonder Woman began being viewed with suspicion.

Eventually Wonder Woman would cross paths with the robot, only to find its ability to bend its joints without limit and its immunity to the magic lasso made it impervious to Wonder Womans best efforts.

Truly Electro was a most fearsome foe.

Day 358: Dangeress

Dressed in the standard green military jump suit of the De Stroyers army, Dangeress is the most fearsome agent of De Stroyers world conquering force. Armed with a vaporization pistol, Dangeress carries out any mission on behalf of De Stroyer.

Which is exactly what she did when Wonder Woman arrived in the Sargasso sea to discover Etta Candy and the others trapped inside of a fish tank slowly filling with water surrounded by baracuda surrounded by an electrical cage surrounded by piles of dynamite...Under the ocean!

With the Holliday girls held hostage, Wonder Woman was left with no choice but to aid the villainous aliens in aquiring the atomic motor. Thus with Dangeress escorting Wonder Woman to ensure that she did not try anything funny, with them using the Sargasso stealth submarine XQR which they use to head for the secret island where the nuclear motor which could by creating a chain reaction of exploding atoms, allow someone to travel 4000 miles per second.

With Dangeress in constant contact with De Stroyer to let him know if Wonder Woman betrayed them, Wonder Woman was forced to retrieve the atomic motor. However as she was returning to the submarine, who should arrive but Steve Trevor!


Spotting the villain on a radio, Steve Trevor who was flying to the island to check on the motor shot the radio out of her hand, giving Wonder Woman the moment she needed to drop the motor, cover a hundred feet in one leap, grab Dangeress and lasso her and the entire crew of the submarine together!

Giving the alien invaders to army intelligence, Wonder Woman explained the situation to Steve Trevor and soon a plan was formed! Steve scrambling a squadron of army intelligence fighter pilots, lead them to the Sargasso sea with diving suits in tow.

The alien invaders who held the Sargasso sea captive spotted the fighters and turned on the weather machine, attempting to destroy the planes with a fierce electrical storm! The army intelligence pilots were helpless against such an attack and their planes crashed into the ocean. However having prepared for this, Steve and the others simply continued on with scuba equipment to the Sargasso kingdom, with the alien destroyers focused upon Steve and his men!

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman had swam from the secret island to the Sargasso sea, and disarming the explosives, she freed Etta, Professor Captain Seadunk and the Holliday girls who she outfitted with Amazonian scuba gear so they could aid her!

Storming the undersea kingdom, Wonder Woman freed queen princess Althea and her people, and between Steve Trevor leading army intelligence, Etta Candy leading the Holliday girls, Princess Althea leading her people, and Wonder Woman; De Stroyer and his minions were forced to surrender, leading to the lot of them being escorted to Reform island along with Dangeress and the submarine crew.

Day 539: Al and Joe
Henchmen of Electro and bosom buddies, Al and Joe are criminal malcontents who want an easy paycheck without getting a job, but don't want to put their life of freedom on the line for a life of villainy.

Their solution? Get jobs as minions of Electro, the scientist of the criminal underworld! Knowing that Electro himself never got his hands dirty, and that he simply created weapons for other criminals, Al and Joe were soon at a job where they were considered hardened criminals and big tough guys...When all they did was go out to buy parts and take advantage of their lack of rap sheets to avoid detection. The two more often than not wile away their days playing poker on the job.

However while Al revels in their cushy life style of being paid exorbitant amounts simply to run shopping errands now and then, Joe was convinced that if he made the effort he could become a brilliant genius mind just like Electro!

Thus despite Al urging Joe not to do it, the goon waited until Electro wandered off on a lunch break and sneaking over to the electronic switchboard, took Robot Woman out on a joyride! However as Electro designed the controls for his personal use, they were not user friendly and Joe soon had the robot smashing up a diner which was next door to the bank.

When Wonder Woman arrived to stop Robot Woman, she found the automaton had its feet firmly planted and its upper torso was spinning in circles, creating a powerful hurricane! It was while Wonder Woman was busily rescuing the innocents that Electro returned and seeing the events on the screen, he back handed Al and Joe away and taking control, had Robot Woman drill underground and escape!

However despite Joes blunder, the henchman was determined to try again, convinced that with a little practice he could pilot Robot Woman just as well as Electro!

Day 540: Professor Daniel
Professor at the San Fransisco laboratory, Professor Daniel wanting to see if it could be done, began development of the 'Silence Radar' a special radar which makes ships invisible to sonar. Making headway, Professor Daniel soon saw success, having developed a device the size of a transistor radio which could make a vessel of any size undetectable by any means of sonar detection!

However shortly after developing it, an assistant at the lab attempted to steal the device! Thankfully he was stopped but soon word got out that Professor Daniels had invented a machine which would make a plane invisible to any detection beyond line of sight. Making it immensely valuable.

Professor Daniels only then realizing that he might have made something dangerous, invented a special safe which could only be opened at a specific time per day, put the prototype and plans inside of it, and designed the safe to destroy the contents should anyone attempt to break into it.

Hearing about the dreaded Grenade Gang lurking about, plotting to steal his blueprints, Professor Daniels decided he would take his own life rather than let the secret fall into criminal hands. But not wanting his work to vanish, he sought out Wonder Woman to share the secret of his device with her, knowing that Wonder Woman could always be trusted.

Wonder Woman arrived and with one glance of the formula, she had memorized it. But before Wonder Woman could ask what Professor Daniels intended to do, someone threw a concussion grenade into the room!

Wonder Woman moved to protect Professor Daniels and in the process, she took the full blast of the concussion grenade to the back of the head...Giving her a concussion! Wonder Woman still standing and addled, unconsciously called for her invisible plane telepathically as Professor Daniels panicked, ran into his safe carrying the formula and closed himself in, sealing himself away.

With Wonder Woman being flown away to safty, the Amazonian princess was soon arriving at Army Intelligence having come down with that most common of fictional maladies...AMNESIA!

Professor Daniels locked away, in an air tight room, seemed doomed with Wonder Woman forgetting his existence. The Grenade Gang would have simply blown the safe open were it not for law enforcement storming the laboratory upon hearing the explosion. With the professor lost, the gangsters plotted to get the information from Wonder Woman.

Day 541: Lieutenant Sims

Agent of Army Intelligence and direct subordinate of Steve Trevors, Lieutenant Sims is a plucky young ace pilot who Steve Trevor taking under his wing, has sworn to teach everything he knows about being an intelligence operative.

Originally an army pilot, Sims got the attention of Steve who after the war, recruited Sims into army intelligence, impressed by his ace flying skills. Sims is one of the agents who Steve relies upon whenever they need to scramble their best operatives to deal with sabatours, spies, and supervillains who threaten the peace of the world!

Trained as a skilled marksman, Sims can use a hand gun to shoot a coin out of someones hand a mile away, a feat only surpassed by Steve Trevor who can accomplish the same trick while flying a plane.

Be it serving as one of the agents Steve calls upon to do battle with invading aliens or fending off the efforts of Mars as he tries to take over army intelligence from within so he may use it to further the path of war, Lieutenant Sims is ready to combat any threat at an order from Steve.

Naturally like all agents of army intelligence, Sims has memorized morse code, sign language, and slugging people to submission.

Day 542: Greg Nade

Leader of the grenade gang, Greg Nade is a criminal fiend who leads a gang which he outfitted with 'trick grenades' be it concussion grenades that render people unconscious, gas grenades that blind people, sleep grenades that put people to sleep, fire grenades which cause massive fireballs, or light grenades which shine blinding light, Greg Nade can do it all with his trick grenades.

With splinter gangs in various cities throughout the country, Greg Nade fancied himself a crime lord who was unstopable, and even concocted plans of taking over the country itself! Upon hearing about Professor Daniels invention of a device which rendered an aircraft invisible to radar, he plotted to fly a bomber over the capital and destroy it utterly with a barrage of grenades!

However when he sent his agents to capture Daniels and instead found him locked inside of the safe that would destroy its contents if anyone attempted to blow it open, he became convinced that Wonder Woman who was present was the only one who knew the combination!

However Diana having been struck with amnesia for the pasty twenty four hours, had no recollection of where she had been or what she had been doing as she arrived at army intelligence. Explaining the situation to Steve Trevor, he suggested they retrace her steps and she sent out a call on the radio asking people who have seen her in the last day to speak up.

Two answers rang out from Buffalo New York, where she had been presented with the key to the city, and Emerald Forest Oregon where she had spoken with a graduating class. Thus Steve and Wonder Woman headed for those locations, unaware of Greg Grenade and the gangsters he had planted in those locations.

Near Buffalo New York, a group of gangsters renting a helicopter, deliberatly crashed into a waterfall and trapped, they began calling for help, knowing Wonder Woman would arrive to save them. But when Diana doove down to pull them out, she found them lobbing shots at her! Fortunatly Wonder Woman with her incredible reflexes effortlessly deflected every bullet one handed as she picked up the broken helicopter and leaped over to the riverbank to deposit it!

Lassoing them, they revealed that they worked for Greg Nade, leader of the grenade gang, and that they had been told that Wonder Woman had the combination of a safe which they were told to capture her for. With the henchmen knowing nothing else, Wonder Woman handed them over to the police in Buffalo, spoke with the mayor and finding no clues, she headed for Emerald Forest.


Upon arriving, Wonder Woman discovered more members of the grenade gang in fire proof suits, were lobbing fire grenades, causing a massive forest fire! Already suspicious after her last ambush, Wonder Woman confronted them and found them lobbing fire grenades at her! Rather than deflecting them, Wonder Woman caught each one and tossed it into space where the grenade detonated and the fire instantly went out with nothing to burn.

Lassoing the lot of them, she found out that their boss was at San Fransisco Laboratory and wanted to find out why he kept targeting her, Wonder Woman with Steve escorting her, headed there to confront Greg Nade!

Greeted with a light grenade Steve was blinded as Greg and his men began lobbing sleep grenades and exploding grenades at them which Wonder Woman caught, and using her lasso, threaded the triggers of the grenades to keep them from going off!

Then lassoing Greg Nade and his gangsters, Wonder Woman discovered the truth, that Professor Daniels was locked away in the safe and that any attempt to open it would result in his detonation.


But even now, Wonder Woman did not know how to open it and with her missing 24 hours, Wonder Woman could only assume that she somehow held the secret to opening it in her missing memory!

Day 543: Professor Delon
Professor at Magnus laboratories, Professor Delon is your every day run of the mill accidental mad scientist. In the name of SCIENCE, He invented the 'Titanic Capsule time bomb' An explosive device that was the size of a spray can, with the power to blow up an entire city.

Upon showing it off to his coworker, Professor Delon was met with horror at the terrible invention Delon has conceived! No, not that he created such a devastating weapon of most terrible destruction, but rather that examining the device, it had a faulty timer that meant it could go off at any time without warning within the next 24 hours!

Intending to launch it into space since they didn't have another means of disposing it, they began making preparations when Electro's henchman Joe piloting Robot Woman, broke into the laboratory while trying to rob another bank and stole a bunch of random lab equipment....And the titanic capsule time bomb!

Escaping back to their hideout with the loot, Joe boasted how he was getting better at piloting Robot Woman while a horrified Professor Delon quickly contacted Wonder Woman, alerting her to the crisis the city now faced!

Hearing of this, a concerned Wonder Woman devised a plan and waiting for Robot Woman to strike again, Wonder Woman attempted to stop the villain and 'tripped' accidently tying herself up in an ordinary rope she painted gold.

Picked up and carried to the villains hide out, Al and Joe showed their catch to Electro who was shocked, amazed, and then horrified when he realized what was going on. Screaming at his two henchmen, Electro ran to the electric switchboarrd to command Robot Woman, only to be caught by Wonder Woman who effortlessly broke out of the ordinary rope, and used the real magic lasso to snag all three of them. And with Al, Joe, and Electro bound, Wonder Woman found the bomb and threw it into space, seconds before it blew up!

And thus with that, Electro's schemes were finally at an end.

544: Magic Lasso
Forged from stray chains of Queen Hippolytas magic girdle of invincibility, the magic lasso was bestowed to Wonder Woman to aid her in her effort better the world and bring about love and peace. But unbeknownst to all, the magic lasso was sentient and though it could not speak, it was aware of all things and was in fact the narrator the entire time.

It boasted of its many abilities. Such as its indestructible nature. Such as when the Hi-Jack gang found Wonder Woman had lasso'd their car. They attempted to shoot the magic lasso, they used a blow torch on the magic lasso, they even attempted to cut it with a pair of scissors, all to no avail for the magic lasso was unbreakable.

Or its ability to stretch to infinite lengths such as when Wonder Woman was after 'the sky trio gang' a group of professional stunt flyers who spotting Wonder Woman scattered in three separate directions, only to be caught when Wonder Woman threw out the magic lasso and knowing her will, it consciously expanded to catch all three of them and retract, lassoing the three planes into a ball.

Or of course, its ability to make others tell only the truth and to make them obey any command. Such as when she captured Killer Gates and made him confess to his many murders.

However it did not always have all of these abilities, and the magic lasso went on to tell the tale of how instead of it being prepared by Hippolyta and gifted to Wonder Woman with its abilities intact, it was instead presented by Wonder Woman and then she was bidden to seek out Aphrodite who gave Wonder Woman three trials which would lead to the magic lasso becoming truly the greatest ally in Wonder Womans efforts.

First, Wonder Woman was commanded to head to Dread Island, seek out the flame pit at its center and soak it in the magic rays of the pit until the magic lasso changed color seven times and became gold once again. For that would make it indestructible.

To do this, Wonder Woman first had to swim to the island where she encountered wandering whirlpools which patrolled the island and forced anything that came near to sink to the ocean floor. Holding her breath and walking until she reached shore, Wonder Woman found the island populated by hoardes of tyrannosaurus rex and trying to lasso them, the magic lasso broke for it at that point was nothing more than a simple lasso.

Evading the monsters, Wonder Woman discovered the flame pit and soaking the magic lasso in it as the dinosaurs neared, it turned back to gold just in time for Wonder Woman to throw the now healed magic lasso at the group of t-rex and the magic lasso now being indestructible, effortlessly held them until Wonder Woman convinced them to behave and sent them wandering off.

Lassoing a whale and water skiing back to Paradise Island, Wonder Woman met again with Aphrodite who bid Wonder Woman to now head to Eyrie Pinnacle, home of the Roc. She must lasso the greatest of birds as it journeyed around the world, and not let go until it returned to its nest. For that would make the magic lasso endlessly elastic.

Journeying to the Rocs nest, Wonder Woman scaled the pinnacle and lasso'd the Roc just as it rose from its nest. Circling the world, Wonder Woman was carried up into outer space, and down again until they reached a gaping chasm stretching deep beneath the earth.


Wonder Woman strained to keep her grip as blind in the darkness, she found herself going under an underground waterfall which was producing a mystical mist that caused the magic lasso to stretch and stretch and stretch some more until she was trailing miles behind the Roc who eventually exited the Earth from a cavern at the foot of Eyrie Pinnacle. Landing back on its nest, the Roc offered Wonder Woman a ride back to Paradise Island which she accepted.

Finally, Wonder Woman greeted Aphrodite for the third trial and the goddess of love guided Wonder Woman to a spring deep within her temple garden. 'the pool of truth foam' and soaking the magic lasso in the pool, it gained the properties of making people follow any command, and compelling them to speak only truth.

Aphrodite then challenged Wonder Woman to use it on a group of passing Amazons and lassoing them, Wonder Woman had them doing summersults. And then at Aphrodites command, the roles were reversed, with the group of Amazons holding Wonder Woman bound by the magic lasso.

Aphrodite warned Wonder Woman that should she let anyone bind her with the magic lasso, that they would be able to command Wonder Woman as well, and challenged her to escape even as the Amazons gave her commands.

Thus the group of amused Amazons commanded Wonder Woman to spin like a top, and Diana proceeded to spin at incredible speeds...Right at the Amazons, sending them all flying into the air, freeing herself!

Satisfied, Aphrodite embraced Diana and bid her to stay safe in the outside world. A challenge made all the easier with the magic lasso a it delighted in pointing out.

Day 545: Marvella
Well known actress based out of San Fransisco, Marvella is a well known face in live theater that specializes in impersonations of famous figures. Be it pretending to be the president, to playing the role of Catherine the Great, Marvella will take any role and breathing life to it, convince the audience that she was that very individual.

Wonder Woman still suffering from amnesia after her encounter with the Grenade gang, was baffled as to how she would rescue Professor Daniels who even now was locked away in his own safe which would explode if it detected any form of tampering.

Wonder Woman assumed that somewhere in her memory was the means of opening the safe but having come down with a case of amnesia that wiped the last 24 hours from her mind, all hope seemed lost!

However while Wonder Woman was in a panic, Steve getting an idea, left the laboratory, headed for the near by theater, and spoke with Marvella. The actress hearing Steves plan agreed to help and soon, Steve Trevor re-entered Professor Daniels laboratory...With Wonder Woman!

Diana stared in shock as Steve confessing his love to Wonder Woman got down on one knee and asked her to marry him, to which 'Wonder Woman' agreed. The shock of this was so great that the last twenty four hours flashed before Wonder Womans eyes and she recalled reading a code written at the bottom of Daniels formula notes!

Thus finding a secret panel on the safe, Wonder Woman put in the code, rescuing professor Daniels!

But with the professor safe, Wonder Woman turned her attention to the more serious issue of the new Wonder Woman and horrified, asked what was going on and Marvella removing her disguise, did a bow as Steve explained how shock is a known cure for amnesia.

Steve then offered with a grin to propose to Wonder Woman as well to which Diana said he did enough proposing for one day.
