NaNoWriMo 2015
So, empty forum or not, anybody here doing NaNoWriMo this year?
I'll participate as I do each year, and as last year, I'll be doing an otome visual novel-style romance without visuals, because I can't draw well enough.
It'll either be a student sorceress who accidentally inherits the mantle of a dark wizard and has to deal with the forces of good and her useless henchmen, or a free-spirited monkey thief in a Chinese-inspired fantasy city, who suddenly finds herself in the center of a political turmoil after stealing the wrong item.
There will be kissing and drama, but the last effort left me with enough teen-drama for a long time, so this time around, it'll be adult-drama.
I'm Nocturama, same as here, in case you want to add me as your writing buddy.

Re: NaNoWriMo 2015
Hellooooooo!
I'm doing NaNo too this year. This is my... 7th year? I don't know what my story will be about yet. I've been writing quite a bit of fantasy stuff this past year, so I'll probably try my hand at a genre that's not SFF. Hopefully I'll get to do some planning before November comes.
Your story sounds very cool, Nocturama! Chinese-inspired fantasy city... Ooooh. Will you have to do worldbuilding first or are you pantsing?

As it's going to be something like choose-you-own-romance, I can't pants too much or it'll end in total chaos... at least not concerning the plot. I'll only do whatever worldbuilding I have to do, and admittedly there will be no super innovative magic system or something like that.
I majored in Chinese studies, so I'm pretty confident I can paste everything I need together from my real-world knowledge and paint it in fantasy-colors. Kind of lazy, I know
I won't have a lot of time to plan, though. I have to hand in an RPG setting till the 15th, and I'll be in China after that... and then it'll be NaNo. I'll probably have to plan during NaNo, not sure how well that'll work.
I'm looking forward to hear more about your plans

Ouch I forgot about this. ^^; I will probably come up with something, though im not sure what it will be just yet...I really only have the weekends to sit down and do this, so I will have to get started soon
Re: NaNoWriMo 2015
I should totally do this. I wish I could think of a better idea than the one I've toyed with doing the last few years ago, which is a really super depressing story (in what has historically been not a great month for me, depression-wise.) I want to write something funny!
Re: NaNoWriMo 2015
I'm going to participate this year, but I'm likely not going to write a novel. I'll be trying to get some plot/script work done for a game on which I've wanted to develop for a number of years but never really got around to doing. I've got much of the world-building done and a slew of ideas, but nothing concrete in terms of plot.

Good luck! Though pantsing can also lead to some nice first drafts

I hope you are better now, and if you feel more like a funny story, I think you should go for it! Maybe [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] will give you some ideas?
They fight crime wrote:He's a maverick shark-wrestling vagrant looking for a cure to the poison coursing through his veins. She's an enchanted antique-collecting traffic cop with an evil twin sister. They fight crime!
EDIT: This one is even better:
They fight crime wrote:He's a genetically engineered day-dreaming romance novelist She's a disco-crazy French-Canadian research scientist living homeless in New York's sewers. They fight crime!

Sounds really cool, and by now "rebells" (=people who aren't writing a new novel) are officially allowed, I think (though that rule never really convinced me - if you write 50.000 words, that's very cool no matter if it's a script or non-fiction or whatever). What is the setting?

Pantsing = flying by the seat of your pants = making the story up as you go along. No plan! I love the word.

I was able to plan during NaNo for a couple times... Granted... I was unemployed! Spent double the time I would on the story than I normally would have.
It seems to be a general rule for SFF worldbuilding to just have the minimum amount you can get away with, and then when you're pressed for words, you go on long tangents detailing your universe then.
