Day 50: Draska the Deadly
A villain who stands apart from anyone else in Wonder Womans rogues gallery for her devious strategies, Draska is a master spy from the Czech Republic who worked alongside her husband in uncovering information for allied forces during the war. When the war ended and her husbands life with it, Draska chose to become more mercantile. Renaming her organization 'International spies inc' she took to stealing top secret information and selling it back to nations, with threat of simply selling it to their enemies if her schemes were not met.

So approaching an old family friend, Phillip Darnell, she revealed that she possessed the blueprints for the atomic bomb, demanding ten million dollars in exchange for their return. (Which was alot for the era.)
Draskas plan would eventually be foiled and the blueprints recovered by Wonder Woman...BUT THIS WAS NOT HER TRUE PLAN!

For Draska, being familiar with allied forces, used her sources, discovered that Diana comes from an island of Amazons which is invisible to any plane, cannot be found by anyone who does not know its location, and posesses technology further along in development than anything the rest of mankind could concieve of in at least a centuries time.

Further, she found that more often than not, Wonder Woman would take criminals back with her to Paradise Islands colony of Reform Island, in an effort to rehabilitate them. Particularly when they were brilliant individuals whose talents could better the world if they could be brought back into the light.

Thus, bound and transported back to the isles via the invisible plane, Draska used special techniques she studied specifically for working oneself out of restraints without breaking them, and was able to silently free herself...AND BOUND WONDER WOMAN WITH THE MAGIC LASSO! The lasso unbreakable, Diana was helpless to free herself and since they had just landed on the island, it was a simple matter for Draska to frogtied Diana to a tree, and enact her secret plan!

Pulling from her shoe a homing device, she activated it so that a squadron of bombers could locate the island, and went to the Amazons capital with a forged letter from Wonder Woman.

The Amazons were in the midst of a leap catch tournament. An amazonian sport in which there would be a hurdle bar twenty five feet in the air and the teams would take turns. With one side trying to leap over the bar, with points awarded for doing so. And the other side with giant butterfly nets, so they might attempt to catch the opposing side before they can make the jump.

Draska, now dressed as one of the Holliday girls, approaches Hippolyta, claiming that Wonder Woman wanted Hippolyta to come alone to see something. Her plan being to capture the queen, and use her knowledge for her organizations ends. Taking the queen with her into the islands wilds.

Fortunatly, Diana was able to pull the tree she was bound to out of the ground, and began bunny hopping her way forty feet feet into the air back to the Amazonian capital, with a full sized oak tree tied to her back!
Upon arriving, she warned her fellow Amazons of Draska, and they are about to organize a search when a huge tremor shakes the island, for the bombers arrived and began dropping their silos down, hitting the barrier of mist protecting the island and breaking it apart with each explosion!

It seemed as though Draskas plan has succeeded! That there was no way she could fail!
Except...She failed to account for two things.

1. Every Amazon has the strength and ability of Wonder Woman. So in short order, a squadron of invisible planes took to the sky, with Amazons riding upon their wings, catching bombs, and deflecting bullets. In short order, the planes were boarded, their crews captured, and their contents taken to Reform Island for rehabilitation.

2. In an island of badasses where Wonder Woman is the second most talented of them all, Queen Hippolyta is even greater. So even though Draska is familiar with six different martial arts including Judo, she was no match for Queen Hippolyta, who in short order had her hog tied and slung over one shoulder on her way to Reform Island.

Thus, Draska the Deadly came closer than most of Wonder Womans villains in defeating Wonder Woman, by studying her enemies tactics, taking advantage of them, and nearly gained herself an impenetrable fortress to operate out of.

One curious misconception I have seen people make about Paradise Island is that many people view it as Diana's equivalent to Metropolis. To Gotham.
In reality, Paradise Island is more akin to The Batcave and the Fortress of Solitude. Diana didn't live there. She commited herself to bettering the world and because of this, was no longer allowed to live on the island, only visit. And forbidden from making it her home once again until the rest of the world was as uplifted as Paradise Island itself is.

She lived in New York. She traveled the world continuously in search of problems, and trouble rarely visited Paradise Island, meaning she rarely needed to run to its defense. Meaning she would have no reason to constantly be camped out on it.

On the subject of secret lairs, I think they really say alot about the heroes in question.
For Batman, he operates out of the Batcave, underground in a literal cave with bats. The cavern contains a trophy collection of items he swiped from crime scenes, mementos of villains he beat up, a training area to keep himself constantly fit, a forensics lab for solving crimes, an armory for storing his tools, and a super computer for monitoring the city for trouble. Its a headquarters that lends itself well to a gadget using detective with a collecting habit.

For Superman he has the Fortress of Solitude. A place he uses for storing dangerous weapons, relics of his Kryptonian heritage, and a menagerie of space animals which he takes care of. Majestic, beautiful, and ultimately rather cold. The place is more of a museum than anything else, serving as more of a connection to a heritage that he has not experienced himself, and as a place to store things which would be to dangerous for the outside world. It is a place for him to reconnect with his heritage, and be reminded of the world he is fighting for now with the abilities he was born with.

For Wonder Woman, Paradise Island is place filled with people. Those who love and support her. It is lively, active, and filled with people engaging in contests of strength and striving to further their understanding of science. Its people working to further their bodies and minds. Learning teamwork and camaraderie through sports and contests to remain social. Its primary features are a city populated by Amazons. Laboratories for the invention of new scientific achievement, a temple for communing with Aphrodite and other goddesses. And an island off the coast for reforming supervillains.

Wonder Woman is not a detective who collects trophies. Or an Immigrant preserving a museum to his lost culture. Wonder Woman is a diplomat trying to better the world and works to activly reform people and make them better. Paradise Island is her Fortress of Solitude. Her Batcave. And the very nature of the place and the people on it shape who and what Wonder Woman is as a character.

Day 51: Kitty and Terry Killdare
Parentless brother and sister who lived in an orphanage run by the foul Superintendent, Lashing Reagan.

The brother and sister suffered under constant abuse of beatings, solitary confinement, one meal a day, and a lack of bedding.

For Reagan would be granted donations from the government for the childrens well being which he would turn around and sell to fill his own pocket, and leave the children with nothing.

Determined to escape this horrible life, Kitty Killdare waited until a shipment of toys came from the military, during which Reagan ordered the children to go collect the toys from the soldier handling the donations, and bring them down to the basement where he stores things for shipping. During this Kitty slipped out to to free her brother Terry who had been placed into solitary confinment for the past month after their last escape attempt.

The two attempt to make a run for it, only for Reagan to catch them. Outraged, the evil superintendent drags them down to the boiler room with a hot poker, intending to brand them, so they would have a punishment they would remember for daring to defy him. Kitty, screaming for help at the top of her lungs, catches the attention of the soldier handing out toys to all the good little girls and it turns out to be...Steve Trevor!

Bursting into the room, Steve coldly orders Reagan to drop the poker, and promised the fiend that his days outside of prison were numbered. Reagan having the poker, attempted to kill Steve who while lacking in Wonder Womans might, was more than capable of socking the jerface, and disarmed him.
During the confusion, the two children uncertain of what was going to happen ran from the room and escaped the orphanage, traveling as far as they could until the sun began to set. Finding a seemingly empty barn, the two climb into a large trunk, removing the contents, and go to sleep.

Meanwhile, Diana gets a call from Steve, saying that he can't make the date, informing her that he will be watching over the orphanage until the police could take away the abusive Reagan, and find someone with greater character to take care of the poor children. Diana praises him for his concern for the children and promises to take him up on their latest date sometime in the future. With her evening plans opened up, Diana decides to spend her weekend on Paradise Island, to celebrate the Harvest Festival with her people and family.

Heading for the barn where she keeps her invisible jet hidden, Diana loads a trunk which she had filled with toys onto the invisible jet, unaware that she had picked up a couple of stowaways.

Sitting the trunk in the plane, she picks up the invisible jet, carries it out of the barn, and uses her mental control to turn on the engine. Running with the plane over her head, she tosses it into the air and jumps inside, flying it to Paradise Island!

Upon arriving, she carries out the trunk, so that she can greet...The Amazonettes! The young girls who call the island home! Made up of war orphans, the children of reformed criminals who chose to remain on the island, and children of other Amazons who Aphrodite had brought to life from clay, everyone was surprised when Wonder Woman opened the trunk to reveal the two children!

Wonder Woman was shocked, but the wee Amazonian children were delighted to meet new friends and took to Kitty and Terry instantly. Carrying the two much larger children like oversized dolls, they showed Kitty and Terry around the island, and let them join in the festivities.

Such as climbing the two hundred foot tree from which hung all manner of presents for the bold children to climb and obtain for themselves. Which included dolls, pets, and toys for their enjoyment.

And the children, being to small to handle the baby kangas, instead used Saddle Rabbits. Which were the size of ponies and had a race. Which Terry won to everyones delight.
Finally, a boxing match between the children and the Amazonian boxing kittens! Which are child sized bipedal clawless cats whose paws are like giant boxing gloves.

We were also introduced to Paradise Islands 'Undersea power projectors' A series of dynamos surrounding the Amazons archipelago twenty miles off shore which give off an electromagnetic field, making it impossible for any intruder to reach the island by boat or submarine.

In the end, Queen Hippolyta granted the two children citizenship on Paradise Island, allowing the two to remain on the isle as Amazons, where they may live happy lives amongst the other Amazons.

Day 52: Marya the Giantess

Standing at a colossal eight feet tall and weighing in at three hundred pounds of pure muscle, Marya is a latino beauty who calls the mountain jungles of Mexico her home!

A womans whose talents as a physician are almost equel to her collosal strength, Marya happens upon Wonder Woman, wounded in the forest after dire sabotage brought her invisible plane crashing into the mountains on her way to do away with the criminal cartels that enslave innocent people to work at the nitrodium mines, to fill their pockets.

Carrying Wonder Woman and the damaged invisible jet back to her village, Marya nurses Wonder Woman back to health...When an army of bandits arrive! Wielding machine guns, military jeeps, men on horseback and rifles, they arrive en masse to enslave the village to further production of the volatile nitrodium!

Marya, enraged at their gall, attacks the bandits! Throwing cars a quarter mile away, hogtying horses, using their soldiers as clubs, Marya was unstopable, for their bullets did little more than enrage her further! Not that she was bullet proof, she was just that badass.

She had defeated the entire legion of criminals single handed save for their leader who held an elderly woman at gun point, threatening to take the womans life if Marya did not surrender. Treasuring the lives of the people, the giantess conceeded, and was bound in the thickest chain they could come up with, to her patient Wonder Woman. The bandits, thinking that only fire had any chance of harming Marya after a hail of bullets would not even pause her, they started work on a huge bonfire.

But in the time it took for them to prepare it, Wonder Woman regained consciousness and shattering the chains, she worked with Marya to string up the bandits, freeing the people they had enslaved.

Afterwards, Diana offers Marya a scholarship at the Holliday college, convinced that Maryas potential was great, commenting that with Amazonian strength training, Maryas might could surpass even her own. And the giantess aggrees, intending to get a college education so that she might return to Mexico and use the knowledge she gained from Wonder Woman to better her country. And thus, Marya the giantess became a Holliday girl.

Im just going to put this simply, Marya is a badass. Shes built like a mountain. Shes imposing as heck. And Wonder Woman believes she could become stronger than herself! For perspective, Wonder Woman can toe a submarine one handed with it going full power in the opposite direction. Swim up the niagra falls, and has held up whole buildings until they could be rebuilt. And Marya is potentially stronger than even that.

Day 53: Jimmy and Pete
Two young lads who live near the military building which Diana works at, the lads Jimmy and Pete are two kids who idolize Steve Trevor.
While not characters who have much of an association with Wonder Woman herself, they serve to establish a trait of Steves that has been repeatedly touched upon throughout Marstons run.

That being, Steve is someone who really loves children. In this particular case, Steve will see the two scamps every time he leaves work and will often play ball with the wee lads. Offer them advice. And urges them to come to him if they are having any trouble at home.

It might seem an inconsequential detail, but its a really neat facet of Steves personality that is shockingly ignored. He volunteers to babysit for his sister, he goes into a rage when he sees children being mistreated. And Diana even expresses admiration for how he prioritizes the safety and well being of a child over his own.
Sure to some this might not be as impressive as flying a plane or socking a villain, but Steve knows how to hold a baby. How to raise a child. And is someone who would never allow a little one to come to harm.

Day 54: Lillie, Millie, and Tillie Heyday

Identical triplets who newly arrived at the Holliday school, the trio attempted to join the Beeta Lamda sorority headed by high mistress Etta Candy, and were forced to go through the initiation hazing to be admitted.

This hazing involves being blindfolded with ones arms behind their back, tossed in a moving truck, driven an hour of of town, lead through the woods into an abandoned house, and then with the blindfolds removed, get back to the sorority house while the other Beeta Lamda girls chase after them while wearing white sheets and swinging paddles around.

Sororities are weird.

So similar in appearance that no one can tell them apart, even the teachers lament that without name tags, the triplets are impossible to recognize from one another. That said, they do have their differences.

Lillie has a talent for jumping hurdles and can make a jump from a three story building, land and keep on running.

Millie is a marathon runner, able to effortlessly outpace anyone else in the entire college.

And Tillie is the responsible one with a reputation for studying, avoiding parties, and tending to her ailing grandmother who raised the three orphan children since they were newborns.

Now if only they didn't have an evil uncle trying to kill them and claim their inheritance, their lives would be so much easier.

As a trio, their greatest talent is their remarkable singing and impeccable choreography. Which allows them to always hit identical pitches, and never miss a beat or queue.

Wonder Woman character of the day

Day 55: Mr. Pipsqueak
A thin and mousy figure of a man, Pipsqueak owned a gentlemen club which he rarely left, abhoring the presence of women to the point that he created the club so that he may go about his daily life without ever seeing one.

When wealthy men of finance began dying off at his club, one at a time, police went to investigate, but could find no evidence that anything untoward was happening, with Mr. Pipsqueak insisting it was simply a coincadence.

When the fourth murder occured, the mayor asked Wonder Woman to intervene, which Pipsqueak LOUDLY protested, declaring it would DESECRATE the holy santcum of masculinity that is his mens club! Since it was private property, he was able to bar her from entering, since she was not a public official. Thus...The mayor appointed Wonder Woman as the chief of police for New York City!

Wonder Woman, upon gaining this new position, immediately hired a number of women she knew to be of good repute into the police force, and bringing several of them along, she entered the gentlemens club with a warrant, demanding to investigate.

Pipsqueak, panicking, could only stand in abhorance, as Wonder Woman canvased the area, and discovered hidden in Pipsqueaks private office, a special ring, designed with a hidden needle, for injecting pressurized air into the victims bloodstream, killing them once it reached the brain!

Mr. Pipsqueak, terrified at being caught, shoved a crate of dynamite into the buildings furnace, intending to do away with Wonder Woman and any witnesses to his crime!

Fortunately, Wonder Woman was effortlessly able to evacuate the building before its destruction and before taking Pipsqueak to jail, declared that she would build a new club at that very spot. One which would cater to both genders and not be some discriminatory 'boys club' to the cheers of everyone present.

With her new position and power, Wonder Woman quickly changed the gender ratio of the police force, filling it with women, and soon, the force had just as many women as men keeping the peace and upholding the law.

The status of this particular role is not brought up for the duration of Marstons run, so its up to the reader to interpret whether Wonder Woman ended up keeping the position, or stepping down, to appoint someone to take her place.

Personally, I think she could totally handle being the chief of police on top of everything else.

Day 56: Ferva Shaye

Before a packed theater full of people, Wonder Woman revealed the secret of her super strength. Commenting on how thin her arms were and how lacking she appeared to be in muscles, she proceeded to pick up a piano, THREW IT AT THE AUDIENCE lasso'd that piano. Pulled it back to the stage, caught it, and then proceeded to play a serenade, revealing it to still be perfectly functional.

After which, Diana explained to the audience that the secret of Amazons super strength actually comes from mental energy! For as Wonder Woman explains, the brain has the power to obliterate mountains and push back the sea. Amazons undergo special training which allows them to channel their mental energy into their muscles, granting them incredible strength. To do so however, one must train their mind so they can tap into this energy. And train their body so that they may posess the stamina to harness it.

Within that audience was Ferva Shaye, who discovering this, hatched an idea.

Now Ferva Shaye, unlike others in the audience, was actually a villianous criminal. Second banana within the 'Lawbreakers Protective League' an organization that for a fee, promises criminals protection from the law, guaranteeing that they will never be apprehended.

Acting as the seemingly lawful public face of the league, Ferva ran and operated a dancing school/escort service from the top floor of a four story building. Meanwhile, using the remaining floors of the building as space for the construction of a colossal computer, she invented a means of artificially tapping into 'Nerve energy' via 'electronic globes' Crystal spheres which receive wireless signals from the super computer which produce a mysterious spinning light that temporarily rewires the brain, allowing someone to perform feats of super strength for the span of thirty minutes. After which, another gaze into the orb would restore those powers once again.

Upon making this great invention, her superior Rodriquez Caballos plots to use it to destroy Wonder Woman. But Ferva is quick to dash this plan, pointing out that even with super strength, its flipping Wonder Woman. They'd get their butts kicked.

Instead, Ferva had another plan.

Meeting Steve Trevor, Ferva offered Steve the globe and explained its properties. Offering it to him and suggesting that if he ever wanted to win Wonder Woman and get her to marry him, he needed to take charge and 'lay down the law' show her whose boss and all that. And with the Electric Globe, he would be the dominant one in the relationship.

Steve as Ferva predicted, fell for it hook line and sinker and gazing into the globe, he gained super strength and the power going to his head, began acting like a huge pushy asshat, declaring that he is now stronger than her and that because he was stronger, he now called the shots in their relationship. And wanted to run off to get married right away.

Diana, not the least bit amused, coldly cut him off, effortlessly warded his forward attempts and lept from the window, moving faster than he ever possibly could.

Figuring something wacky was going on, Diana decides to investigate and discovering the globe, she uses the mental radio to 'scan mental signals' allowing her to trace the signal back to Ferva Shayes dance school.

Figuring that she would be to obvious in both of her personas if they were watching Steve, Diana wanted to investigate and find out why the heck they were giving Steve superstrength. Unaware that Fervas plan was to count on Steve being an ass and trying to turn Diana into a housewife, thus making her retire.

Thus, Diana called upon Etta Candy, asking her to discreetly investigate. Which was quite possibly the greatest miscalculation in Wonder Womans career.

For Etta Candy is many things. Kind, a good leader, self confident, greedy, brave, honest, loud, boisterous, randy, naughty...But discreet is not a word that is ever associated with the four foot tall rounded redhead.

Thus walking into the dancing hall, she spots the male escorts, looks them up and down and loudly declares in that Texan accent. "Oh! Oh! This one! I want this one!" And grabs a cute guy to give her dancing lessons.

Etta, having the kind of personality, appearance and reputation that makes her stand out in any kind of crowd, is immediately recognized as Etta Candy, 'the girl whose always with Wonder Woman' and the criminal malcontents toss her in a closet, intending to torture her to find out how much she knows.

Rodriquez, suspecting Ferva of betraying him, promises to kill her after he finishes with Etta Candy, leading her to call Steve and confess to the whole thing in the hopes he would arrive to arrest the lot of them before she was laid low herself.

Before he could become necesary however, Etta used the Telepathic abilities taught to her by Wonder Woman to send a message through the mental radio, telling Diana what was going on, allowing Wonder Woman to rush to the scene and handily wrap up the entire criminal organization single handed before Steve could arrive.

When he finally arrives, he sees Wonder Woman and declares it is to dangerous for her to fight crime like she does, but Diana cuts him off and tells him how it is.

Wonder Woman prefers to be the dominant in the relationship and has no interest in a submissive role. She also finds lovers stronger than her to be a turn off. One which she states would end her interest in their continued relationship.

Steve, given the choice between super strength, or his relationship with Wonder Woman, immediately destroys the electric globe, destroying the machine. And apologizes for acting like such an ass.

In the end, Ferva Shaye was taken back to Reform Island to be rehabilitated. As Wonder Woman felt her genius could benefit the world.

Day 57: Arda Prosperous.

Student of the Holliday college with a major in business, Ardas family owns 'Tin Plate Incorporated' a company founded by her father which started as a simple business of selling hand crafted dinnerware, it soon expanded to become the largest producer of basic goods in the country. Silverware, construction equipment, and the like. With a strong arm in metal refineries.

One day, tragedy struck when her father passed away due to a grisly murder. Arda, beside herself with grief, revealed that the company relied so much on her father that it was quickly falling apart without him heading it. Shares dropping at a collosal rate, her family was doomed to bankruptsy.

Arda woefully said she would be forced to leave the college to care for her mother, and that her families charity work would be brought to an end.
The charity in question being vocational schools for the disabled which free of charge, would train those in need in careers that their disabilities would not prevent them from excelling in.

And tragically all of the good her fathers company did would be all for naught.....
Were it not for Wonder Woman of course!!!!!

Declaring that Arda Prosperous had no need to fear, Diana dashed to the stock exchange and while deflecting bullets, bought a thousand dollars in shares to the company which was rapidly dropping before her arrival.

Onlookers in awe of Wonder Womans rash decision, were convinced that she knew something they didn't and numerous investors laying low to avoid the hail of bullets sent Wonder Womans way, began bidding as well, driving up the stock prices of Tin Plate Inc, and saving the company!

After dropping off a couple things, Wonder Woman headed for the headquarters of Tin Plate Inc with Arda, and having the Holliday girl prove her keen business sense, she was able to reassure the investors, who accepted Arda Prosperous as the head of the company. Making her one of the countries corporate bigwigs. She would go on to expand her company, using the financial gains to branch the vocational schools across the country, and doing her part to make the world a better place.

Day 58: Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner
An eccentric elderly man who always uses that full descriptive to describe himself, and insists that those who refer to him use full afore mentioned descriptive, Old man creeper Jackson the crippled Gardner was the successful owner of a realty company when tragedy struck in the form of a car in a hit and run. While he was hospitalized due to the severe injuries, Old man creeper Jackson the crippled Gardner's company faced a hostile takeover at the hands of an employee whom Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner treated as his own son.

Told that he had no place in business, the depressed old man began to focus on his true passion, gardening. And was quite content.
Until the hospital bills started coming in, meaning what little he had was going to be taken from him. On top of that, he suffered constant ridicule and mockery from college kids who passed by his home to and from their campus.

The series of circumstances to much for him, Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner snapped, and began focusing on creating very special flowers, And soon, he was selling flowers which looked strikingly like people. Their petals forming the faces of young women, that almost looked human.....

Recouping his finances, things were looking up for Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner. Who now able to afford a lawyer, attempted to sue the jerk who stole his company, and reclaim it.

This lead to Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner's life flashing before his eyes as the same car which put him in the hospital before, came again for his life! Dodging aside, Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner was able to avoid the car, but it doubled back and tried to hit him again, the drivers intent to do the old man harm was obvious.

Fortunately, Wonder Woman was passing by and lassoing the car, she whipped it into the air and caught it, holding it over her head and tipping it to one side to shake out the driver, revealing it to be...the very same employee who took over Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner's company!

Furious, Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner swore he would see the man behind bars and his former employee mockingly exclaimed that he could afford lawyers which could keep that case in court for years without him facing charges. Diana informed both men that she would get to the bottom of this, which lead to the former employee leaving, plotting to have the old man killed.

However, he did not count on Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner having a rather twisted personality of his own and soon it was all over the papers that the employees daughter had gone missing, her fate unknown.

Etta Candy, leading a team of Holliday girls, began investigating, and discovered the withered remains of a giant pitcher plant outside the girls window and following tracks, they made their way back to Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner's house to discover in his basement...An array of giant pitcher plants! Coming to life in the presence of sunlight, they reached out with their vines and grabbed the girls, entombing them in the plants.

Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner maddened, swore that he would have his revenge and that he would do away with all witnesses. And add to his collection of pretty flowers in the process.

Etta, using telepathy to contact Wonder Woman, was able to inform the Amazon who was able to handily save the girls, and apprehend Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner.

Declaring Old Man Creeper Jackson the Crippled Gardner to be mentally ill, she arranged for him to be put in a facility for treating diseases of the mind where he would quite possibly spend the remainder of his life, and saw that the employee's act of assault and attempted murder was exposed, ensuring that he wouldn't walk away from this scott free.

Thus, the girls were saved, criminal intent was exposed and everyone was happy.
Except possibly those rather human looking flowers......

Day 59: Professor Chemico
Considered one of the greatest minds in the country and unrivaled in his field, Professor Chemico is a chemist whose talents are so great that he is frequently consulted by governments in the oversight of medicines and in the viability of new drugs.

So lauded, Professor Chemico could have a lofty position anywhere he wished. but at the urging of the dean, he chose instead to become the chemistry professor of the Holliday college, where he may impart his genius in the field of chemistry into generations of growing minds.

A fascinating and shockingly meta concern for the professor however, is that he fears one day going mad and using his science for evil. For he has a talent for inventing things which have no possible safe use. Such as 'Sinflamic acid' which floats like a mist and upon coming into contact with air, combusts and continues burning until it has used up fuel to burn. (In this case, air.) Meaning he has essentially invented a means of setting the earths atmosphere ablaze.

It makes me wonder just how common evil scientists already were in the Golden Age, that a professor would have such a shockingly reasonable concern.

And whether mad science could be considered a form of mental illness...

Day 60: Sandy Nolan and Rex the Wonder Dog
Entering the war, Private Nolan took his dog Rex with him into the war, citing it as a dog of character, who was 'very smart'

Rex, the Belgian sheep dog, would over the course of the war rack up fifty kills single handed and probably would have done quite alot more were it not for his owner being declared missing in action!

Private Nolan missing and pressumed dead, Rex was returned to his family who with no discernable income, were living in a one room apartment. (I don't mean one bedroom.)

With his mother working at the factory, Sandy Nolan would try to take his dog on walks as often as possible to get him out of the cramped apartment. Saddened at his mothers insistence that they must get rid of the Wonder Dog.

By chance, Sandy came across Wonder Woman and asked her if she would take care of his dog since he could be sure it would go to a good home if it was with her. He then proceeded to explain what makes the genius dog so wonderful such as its ability to throw grenades, its ability to man a turret gun, its talent for operating locked doors, the ability to stand on two legs and hold one hand up to its head in a salute, and its skills with acrobatics which Rex shows by leaped straight up into the air, doing four flips and then landing on Sandys back!

Wonder Woman, following 'give a boy a fish' logic, has an idea at this and begins teaching Sandy acrobatics until he was just as talented as Rex in the use of cartwheels and flips!
Once she was confident of the pairs routine, Wonder Woman phoned Felix Stadjer, a friend Diana made during her days as a performer, and told him she had an act that would blow him away!

Thus, it was off to the Marquis theater, where Sandy and Rex put on amazing gymnastic stunts of great daring do much to the amazement of a packed theater!

The show was a big hit and soon made the papers, with the dynamic pair being the biggest thing since Wonder Womans own time on stage! Soon the boy would be able to afford a proper home for himself, his mother and his dog, allowing the family to live comfortably once more.

At a hospital, a John Doe who had lost his memory and lacked any identification was reading the newspaper when he saw a picture of Sandy and Rex on the front page causing every thing to click and allowing him to remember that he was Private Nolan, and thus he was finally able to return home, a family reunited once more!

One interesting thing about this is that Rex would be so beloved, that another writer half a decade later would steal the name and make their own Rex the Wonder Dog. And change the breed oddly enough...

Day 61: Susan Tardee
Holliday girl and member of the Beeta Lamda sorority, Susan is a student who is infamously late for every little thing. From classes, to meetings, even on missions to aid Wonder Woman.

Fortunately, Susan is an expert at talking her way out of situations that would otherwise get her in alot of trouble. And her overly polite way of speaking makes it difficult for anyone to stay mad at her despite her frequent tardyness.

It does raise an interesting question though. Is she Tardy because shes Tardee or Tardee because shes Tardy?

Like all members of the Beeta Lamda sorority, Susan had to undergo the sororities week long initiation which aside from the haunted house, also involves walking across a room bare foot and blindfolded. Oh, and with the floor covered in 'worms' in order to prove their courage.

Sororities are weird. ^^;

Day 62: Professor Toxino
Scientist with a major in chemistry and a minor in Entomology, Professor Toxino approached the Surgeon general, announcing his newest discovery!
A means of coating someones cells in 'superantisik plasma', which would make them immune to any disease!

The six foot tall bald headed cigar smoking Surgeon General Doctor. Big examined the claim and sent it to chemists and doctors for study who came back revealing Toxino's method to be laughable at best. With a 100% guaranteed fatality rate within a months time.

Laughed out of the office, Toxino swore revenge! Thus, he began breeding a new species which he called 'Red Winged Fly' a species of flying insect which would bite a victim and cause a mark identical to the fly to appear on someone face, followed by a 'criminal intent to murder'
Multiplying his evil bugs, Toxino sent them to the military building, and to the offices of the doctors and chemists who outed his fraudulent creation!

Fortunatly, Wonder Woman discovered what was going on around the point where Darnell and Doctor Big grabbed Steve and tossed him out a twelve story window. Acting fast, she quickly subdued those infected without harming them and hurriedly worked to prevent any terrible conseqeunces from befalling anyone due to Toxinos rampage, working to take care of the flies along the way.

Tragedy struck however, when after rounding up the last of the people infected, Diana herself was bitten by one of the Red Winged Flies!

Wonder Woman, going into a berserk rage and desiring to murder, began to hunt down Toxino for causing so much trouble, intending to rip his head off!
Fortunately, Steve and Etta Candy were quick to arrive and while Etta kept Wonder Woman busy, Steve was able to bind her with the lasso, keeping her from going through with her murderous intent.

Toxino, having the bleep scared out of him by the encounter, hurriedly gave them the antidote he created 'Anti Crimitic' least he find himself killed by one of the many others he had angered.

The antidote administered to those infected, the day was saved!
Annnd Toxino ended up facing pretty heavy criminal charges for creating a plague and for all the trouble he caused.

Im sure the concept of illness villains was already around by then, but the idea of someone creating one which is transmitted through insects is an interesting one. If the strain had not been caught early, I imagine it would have bred out of control with the current population and created a terrible crisis.

Day 63: Kathra
Amazon in service of Queen Hippolyta and worshipper of Aphrodite and Athena, Kathra is the school teacher for the Amazonettes, who dedicates herself to the mission of instilling knowledge and wisdom to the growing minds she is teaching.

As an amazons super strength is derived from their mental capacity, growing ones knowledge along with their body is vital, leading to hours sitting on ones knees with perfect posture, reading and absorbing lessons as instructed by Kathra.

One of the most integral things about the Amazons of the Golden Age is that at no point is their choice to live on the island seen as any sort of punishment. Never are they 'Oh noes~ I have forsaken the menz, cursing me from ever knowing the joy of being a mother~'

Paradise Island was a utopia where women have found peace and enlightenment. Where their minds and bodies are all at their peak.

So instead of pining away about not having a child, or treating Diana as a lone singular oddity, the Golden age Amazons simply asked for kids of their own.

When your patron goddess of love, fertility and bringing clay statues to life is willing to grant you a child if you simply ask her for one, wouldn't you do the same if you wanted one?

This actually had a fair amount of symbolic significance. As the Amazons were women who were able to control when they gave birth, and could have children with no input from a man. They were not beholden to a man to be given the gift of a new life. They would instead beseech their goddess who knowing their desires, would grant the Amazons the same gift she granted their queen.

Thus, these were immortal women who were at the peak of physical form. The peak of fitness. All with super strength, speed and dexterity. Who were blessed with a loving deity who would grant them children when they felt ready to make that commitment.

This is what makes the Amazonettes so wonderful.

Day 64: Professor Foozlewitz
Professor of language at the Holliday school, the esteemed professor professes mastery over a hundred languages and the associated accents.

So focused is he in the study of language in its many forms, that he actually lets everything else fall by the wayside. Tending to attend the college with a miskempt appearance, Professor Foozlewitz has a reputation for terrible clumsiness, and a tendency to forget things like which classroom he teaches in, and even the names of his students.

While he can wish you a merry day in a hundred languages, he would probably trip over his own shoelaces and not remember your name in any case.

I find it rather interesting how talented the teachers of Holliday college are. Seemingly the best in their respective fields, it says alot about how advanced an education the Holliday girls are receiving.

Day 65: Honest Prince Hubert
Hidden in 'the mountains between Palestine and Asia' lies a previously vacant valley which was colonized by a band of medieval knights who losing contact with the outside world, maintained their ways of knighthood and chivalry. Declaring it the 'Principality of Angolia', the valley was ruled by a prince who commanded the respect of his subjects.

Thus when Steve and Diana happened upon the valley, they were shocked to see knights on horseback, people living in castles, and the people in revolt against a foul usurper who took the throne.

In short order, Steve managed to be arrested, mistaken for Prince Hubert, the rightful ruler to the throne and discovered 'Lady Signa' Huberts betrothed.

Wonder Woman, heading into the royal forest, found the prince with a band of merry men who were plotting to take the castle and aided them in ousting Black Robert and his band of varlets.

Rescuing Signa and Steve, Diana was pleased to see Hubert and Signa choosing to rule the kingdom together, declaring that leadership must be tempered with love and kindness.

Not the most vital of characters or locations in the Wonder Woman mythos, but I always find it neat the idea of small secluded secret countries and cities like this that are as if bottled outside of time.

Wonder if all of these secret nations have a secret UN....

Day 66: Erna Livvy
High school history teacher at the Sound Branch high school, Erna is a close friend of Dianas who has the amazons respect for her dedication in the pursuit of knowledge and her hard work in instilling knowledge and learning into the young minds she prepares for the future.

One of the really awesome things about Wonder Woman is how she strives to make friends and form connections. How she endeavors to on a personal level, connect with everyone wherever she goes. This leads to her having friends in every industry. In all walks of life. And doing this, Wonder Woman is really bringing the world together.

Teachers, doctors, entertainers, businessmen, the wealthy, the poor, Wonder Woman knows them all and has made allies who would aid her through thick or thin. While Batman has an army of Robins, Wonder Woman has a support group of millions. Not superheroes persay. But everyday ordinary people who do their part to make the world a better place one small contribution at a time.

Wonder Woman the ambassador of peace, reaching out with an open hand to befriend everyone she meets.

Day 67: Queen Boadicea

Speaking with her friend Erna Livvy, Diana discovered that the history teacher was having trouble engaging her class in history, which many of the students found difficult to relate to due to the subject matter seemingyl having no impact upon their own lives.

Diana, not about to leave a friend in need, takes the class to Paradise Island, where they make use of the Amazonian Trans-materialization machine! A piece of Amazon technology which allows for the instant teleportation of those who use it to any time or place!

Erna explains that they were studying the exploits of the great Queen Boadicea of Britain in the year 60 AD, so Wonder Woman uses the trans materialization machine to send them back in time!

A malfunction with the time machine however, results in them arriving in the time period in spectral intangible forms. Unable to be seen or heard.

Stating this should still allow them to experience history, Diana leads the class to Queen Boadicea, who is giving a speech about the death of her husband, and declaring herself regent until her daughters Sigris and Rowena are of age to take the queenship and co-rule their people.

The people celebrate at this news but the celebration is short lived as the Romans arrive to imprison the queen and her daughters, with the intent to do unspeakable things to them in order to completely subjugate the island and its people!

Wonder Woman, not about to put up with misogyny even across time, TAKES PHYSICAL FORM THROUGH SHEER FORCE OF WILL! And brings down a wall to rescue Boadicea and her daughters!

The romans, declaring Diana 'Hercules woman' run in fright and with Wonder Womans help, Queen Boadicea unites the tribes and drives the romans from the isle once and for all!

The queen now safe, Diana is prepared to return to the present when Boadicea's daughter Rowena approaches Diana and asks to go with her. Diana would agree and Rowena would return with her to the present and join the Amazons of Paradise Island as one of their own.

Upon returning to the states, the time travelers discover the history books have been rewritten, detailing Boadiciea's success in driving off the Romans and how her line rules the isle to this day.

This is what I love about Golden age Wonder Woman . There was no status quo, or a special effort to make the comics match the real world as closely as possible. The states could have embassies on Saturn and Mars. A solution to global warming. The cure to all disease. And these things would simply be added to Wonder Womans mythos and become simple fact.

Day 68: Professor Vibrate

Genius physics professor of the Holliday school, Professor Vibrate is renowned as one of the greatest minds in the field of physics, particularly in relation to sound and vibration.

Also possessing a medical degree, Professor Vibrate served as a doctor during the war which lead to him tending to many a patients diagnosed with shell shock. During which, he happened upon a scientific discovery of nefarious consequences.

He discovered a specific vibrational frequency which once produced, will cause the brain to react as if it has been overloaded with stress and simply shut down completly for a limited amount of time. An effect which if used a second time, would cause instant death to the victims.

Keeping this discovery to himself, Professor Vibrate would go on to earn a teaching position at the Holliday school, where he would be well regarded by his peers and students alike. But the knowledge of his discovery weighed on him. And the temptation to misuse it for ill gain was to much for Professor Vibrate to resist.

Thus fashioning a walking stick designed to induce that very frequency when striking against a solid object, he would go into banks disguised as a little old lady and rendering everyone within a five block radius spontaneously unconscious, he would simply walk into the vault and come out again with bags of money. Taking advantage of his position at the Holliday school, he was forewarned about Wonder Womans abilities and learned how to avoid her, and the Holliday girls alike.

Soon he was growing so confident that he would send letters to various law enforcmenet agencies, taunting military intelligence, the secret service and even the IRS, declaring that he would steal whatever he wanted and nobody would be able to stop him. What had originally been a motive of greed soon became a game to him. One which he grew to confident in.

For knowing Wonder Womans abilities is not the same as knowing how to avoid them, and Professor Vibrate soon met his match, and found himself imprisoned for his crimes.

A rather simple villain in terms of motivation, Professor Vibrate is the kind of villain I would really like to see pop up again someday.

Day 69: Gerta Von Gunther
Daughter of Baron and Baroness Gottfried and Paula Von Gunther, Gerta's father was murdered when nazis invaded Austria, and was stolen away along with the Von Gunthers assets to aid them in the war.

Holding Gerta's life over Paula's head, they sought to control the brilliant Paula Von Gunther and use her brilliance to take over the world.

Paula filled with rage and hatred at the loss of her husband and daughter, would focus all that bile to murder, taking a sickening delight in breaking the minds of innocents to serve her will, wanting to make others experience the same grief and rage which she is going through.
This was not an excuse for what she did, merely a motive.

Paula would delight in the suffering of others, Attempting to murder children, cripple the ability of her victims to think for themselves and brainwashing countless women into serving her will and to have no agency themselves.

Wonder Woman, upon finding out about Gerta, sought to rescue the wee baronette. Using the magic sphere, Diana discovers that Gerta had been sentenced to a nazi camp, awaiting death with countless others. Horrified by the discovery that the nazis stooped so low, Diana enlists the aid of Etta and they journey to Europe!

Getting behind enemy lines with the invisible jet, Etta and Diana quickly take the camp and promptly begin emptying it of each and every single innocent whose lives were nearly lost. Transporting them to Reform island!

Letting Paula and Gerta reunite, Diana used the magic sphere to find the rest of these camps and with the use of her invisible jet and the help of her greatest ally Etta Candy, one by one, they emptied each and every one of the vile camps!

Eventually, the refugees would be transported to the states and Paula, only now realizing the scope of everything she has done, begs for forgiveness and requests to be taken back to America to face justice for her crimes.

Diana accepted Paula's request but insisted she would defend Paula in court, citing that Paulas mind could benefit the world if put to work for the forces of good.

Paula bid a tearful farewell to her daughter and asked Mala to watch over her, with the Amazon swearing to treat Gerta as her own daughter.

However on the way to the courthouse, Wonder Woman caught sight of a burning building and landed her invisible jet so she might rush in to rescue those trapped inside! Tragedy struck when holding up the fourth floor so that some children could escape, when a falling piece of lumber struck Diana on the head, rendering her unconscious!

Paula, not about to let the woman who rescued her daughter die, rushed into the burning building to drag Wonder Woman out, Paula suffered third degree burns across 100% of her body!

Diana upon recovering, hurries Paula to a hospital for immediate treatment to keep her alive. Unable to fly her back to Paradise Island without risking her life in the process due to the severity of her injuries.

Diana, woeful about the sacrifice Paula made, swore to find her innocent! Using her knowledge of every form of law (Naturally Wonder Woman is a fully certified lawyer) Diana made an impassioned case in Paulas defense, using Von Gunthers recent sacrifice and current physical state to convince the jury, Paula was found not guilty!

Thus after a few weeks in the hospital, Paula was transported back to Paradise Island where approaching Aphrodite, she swore an oath to act only in the name of love and peace, swearing to spend the rest of her life dedicating herself to uplifting mankind in an effort to right the crimes she had committed. Aphrodite acknowledges Paulas sincerity and commands Queen Hippolyta to fashion a body mask of clay for Paula which Aphrodite in turn brought to life, granting Paula recovery from all her injuries, a new face, and a new lease on life.

Now reunited with her daughter once more, Gerta was beside herself with joy to now have two mothers, with Mala and Paula growing quite close....

Gerta's life on the island would prove an interesting one for the young child. Learning alongside the Amazonettes, Gerta would soon develop super strength, boasting the ability to swim two hundred miles in under an hour and the ability to life three hundred pounds despite being only four years old.

She would get into all manner of trouble due to her headstrong nature, stubbornness and foolish bravery. Going so far as to try taking on a kraken despite the protests of Queen Hippolyta herself for the wee child to stay away from the beast.

So willful was the wee child that only her Gerta's mothers could make her listen.

In later years, Gerta would grow up to become a brilliant scientist specializing in microbiology, the study of virus's and size altering rays. Her headstrong nature driving her to invent and experiment for the sake of knowledge itself. Often without considering the consequences, side effects, or well being of anyone in her manic curiosity.

Day 70: Olive Norton
Young girl with two older brothers by the names of Tom and Jimmy, Olive desires more than anything to be able to play baseball, but is forbidden from playing with the boys because she is 'to weak'

Wonder Woman, happening upon the small child, hears her tale of woe and informing Olive that she simply needs training and practice, she scoops up the young girl and flies her off to Paradise Island in her invisible jet which she proclaims 'Flies faster than 3000 miles an hour!'

Upon arriving, Wonder Woman introduces her to the Amazonettes and their teachers who take Olive under their wing and endeavor to help her train and practice with Amazonian strength training, and practice in the Amazonian sports to heighten her physical prowess!

By the time Olive is done, she is able to lift up to one ton, and throw a ball at ninety miles per hour!
Wonder Woman took Olive back home and was still barred from playing with her jerk brothers, only for one of them later that very day to walk into some quicksand! Olive, using her newly gained super strength and training, was able to construct a lasso and single handedly catch and pull her brother out of the quicksand, saving his life!

In the end, Olive would become well regarded for her talent for sports and grow up to play in the professionals, earning a spot in the baseball hall of fame for her incredible talent which proved women were just as capable in sports as their male counterparts.

Day 71: Sidney Simper

Trustee of the Holliday college, Sidney is a snide fellow with a penchant for acting coy even when he is outright insulting.

Hanging out at a conservative club frequented by college trustees in the area, Sidney was arguing with Rufus Robust, trustee for Hollidays chief rival, Starvard University. The pairs focus on sports.

Sidney boasted that the Holliday girls sports teams were the best in the nation which Rufus protested with an over inflated ego, declaring Starvard produces nothing but the best athletes, who could easily mop the floor with WOMENZ!

Sidney tells Rufus to put his money where his mouth is, leading to the pair putting up 1 million dollars each on a game of tennis to prove which school is better. (Equivalent to $99,479,474.48 today.)

They decide on the game to be tennis, and Rufus boasts that Starvard has world tennis champion Pete Athleet on their side, who no woman could possibly beat!

Sidney Simper, then turned around and declared Wonder Woman would play for the Holliday school!

Rufus laughed, convinced that would not make a difference and the two shook on it.

Later, Rufus Robusts nephew Bluff would find out about this and panic, declaring his uncle had no right to gamble the one million dollars he promised to give to Bluff so the little weasel could use it to bribe his way into the cushy position of chairman in Starvards research foundation.
Rufus, looking at his nephew like he lost his mind, points out that he doesn't have to give bluff a dime, and goes off on his way.

Which leads to the desperate Bluff concocting a dreadful plan.

Doing the ten minute drive from Starvard to the Holliday school, he saw Wonder Woman practicing tennis with the Holliday girls, and spiked her drink with 'a dreadful drug which renders a woman instantly unconcious' and when she is knocked out...He kidnaps her and drives back to Starvard where he covers her in bandages and hides her in Starvards Semitic museum! Convinced that the Holliday girls would be doomed without her!

But having been trained by Wonder Woman, the Holliday girls go into the tennis match and more than holding their own, with Etta Candy easily defeating the athletic Pete Athleet!

Bluff, gone mad, pulls out a gun intending to shoot Etta, to keep her from winning, when Wonder Woman having regained conciousness, bursts free of the sarcophagus she had been locked inside and runs into the tennis field to deflect the bullets and catch the villianous Bluff Robust, who saw his last days at Starvard University for all he did.

And thus thanks to Wonder Woman and the Holliday girls, the Holliday college was a million dollars richer, allowing them to expand their scholarship program and learning curriculum!

And all because Sidney Simper knew the Holliday girls were the best.

Year of Wonder Woman - Page 3 Empty Re: Year of Wonder Woman

Post by Nuuni Nuunani Sun Feb 14, 2016 5:03 pm

Day 72: Priscilla Rich (Cheetah #1 Golden age)
I confess, I was a little unsure of how to approach this particular character because Marston actually did two versions of her origin. One within the actual Wonder Woman comic, and another a few years later in the Wonder Woman comic strip. The two versions have quite a number differences. Particularly in terms of motive, origin and most especially powers.

After a bit of pondering on the matter, I decided to focus on the Newspaper version because 1. It fits Marstons narrative better of Priscilla being the first victim to the Cheetah and 2. The origin and powerset are FAR more interesting.

To cover the original origin briefly though...
Woman co hosting a charity event with a man named Courtley Darling, she introduces Wonder Woman and feeling jelous of Dianas popularity, tries and fails to kill her. Later after a second attempt at murdering Wonder Woman fails, she develops a split personality which instructs her to don a cheetah rug and attempt to frame them for robbery and try to murder Courtely and Wonder Woman because their better than her.

Powers were the ability to climb walls, telepathy, and the ability to 'move with an unatural inhuman gait'

Now with that out of the way...
Revised origin by Marston;

Daughter of Albion rich, chairman of the military financial board and professional dancer, Priscilla Rich was hosting a charity event for the aid of war orphans and blackmailed Darnell to ask Wonder Woman to attend in the hopes of raising huge amounts of money for the event.

So confident was Priscilla that Wonder Woman would attend, that she began preemptively advertising and sure enough, the theater for the event was fully booked, with thousands poured into the charity by people flocking at the very knowledge that Wonder Woman was involved in it. Unfortunately, Diana had no idea. And was in fact out on a date with Steve Trevor in her Diana Prince disguise. Thus, it was not until late into the event in question that she even got word of it, and rushed to put on a performance.

Meanwhile at said event, the crowd was getting anxious and a bit peeved over the lack of Diana and began hurling slurs and demands of a refund if she did not appear. Priscilla, deciding to at the last minute change the order of events since Wonder Woman wasn't showing, went onto the stage and preformed a brilliant ballet performance, in an effort to placate the crowds.

This unfortunately, only fanned fuel onto the fire and people began insulting her and pouring on tons of hatred and vitriol towards Priscilla, because they came to see Wonder Woman and didn't care one iota for her dancing performance.

Sending Priscilla running from the stage in tears, the crowd was just about to leave when Wonder Woman appeared and began performing feats of strength and dexterity, to the amazement of the crowd who cheered and praised Wonder Woman for her talents and abilities!

After a hearty show of her physical abilities, Wonder Woman had a tank of water brought out onto the stage and declared that she would be put in chains and lowered into the water, where she would be expected to escape scott free from her restraints!

Asking Priscilla Rich to bring onto the stage the restraints, Diana was to be encased head to toe in a thousand kinds of chains, manacles and locks, which Pricilla began to apply to Wonder Woman. But as Priscilla applied the last one, she realized it only went up to nine hundred and ninety nine!

Thinking fast, she spied Wonder Womans magic lasso and added that to the list of restraints binding Wonder Woman, and helped her into the tank.

However, the magic lasso being unbreakable, Wonder Woman was helpless to break free of it while underwater! Thus, it required Wonder Woman to beak the manacles on her feet, work off her boots, and untie the magic lasso with her toes while trapped underwater for fifteen minutes!

Escaping the water tank, Wonder Woman demanded to know why she was bound with the lasso, pointed out that it was unbreakable and she could have died. Priscilla protested, saying that she thought Wonder Woman could break any restraint, leading to a jeering crowd to hurl insults at her, pointing out that the magic lasso is famously unbreakable! (It was covered in the Wonder Woman movie in universe.)

Diana, wanting to resolve this, used the magic lasso on Priscilla and sure enough, she genuinely had no idea that Wonder Woman couldn't break her own magic lasso and was just substituting for a missing chain. But even with proof from the magic lasso, the crowds opinions of Priscilla were sour, and heart broken, the dancer excused herself from the stage and retreated to her dressing room, as the Holliday girls marching band led by Etta Candy took the stage.

Her sense of self worth destroyed, and feeling at her lowest, she stared into her dressing room mirror and dispaired at the unfairness of how she was treated like crap while Wonder Woman got all the praise.

That is when the Cheetah appeared.

Introducing herself, the Cheetah explained that every human had an animal buried inside of them which symbolized their essence and subconscious. A side that held sway over ones basic emotions and feral instincts. A spirit animal.

Declaring Priscilla Rich weak and worthless, she informs the woman that she was taking control. Priscillas animal spirit, the Cheetah became the one in control of Priscilla's body, with its true owner unaware of what was even happening.

Taking that sense of inferiority of Priscilla's and acting on it, the Cheetah decided to get her revenge upon the audience who treated her so horribly! So donning the theater costume of a Cheetah from a play, the villainous snuck outside using a secret door, and barred the theater exits from the outside. Then re-entering the building, she set fire to the place, intending to burn the whole place down!

The smell of smoke filling the air as the fire from the basement began to reach the theater hall, the crowd began to panic and trample one another! That is, until the Holliday girls began to play a song, comparing their situation to the Titanic as they played to calm the crowd.

Wonder Woman, outside, saw the smoke coming from the building and quickly smashed a hole in a wall, allowing the crowds to escape. The people moving carefully to avoid tripping or hurting one another, the music of the Holliday girls serving to calm the crowd. But as the last of the audience escaped the building, the ceiling collapsed in the theater!

Wonder Woman, panicking, raced into the wreckage and began digging around in an effort to find the girls in the hopes they were alive. Instead finding an open trap door where they had been standing, leading into a secret tunnel that lead out of the theater.

For Cheetah, losing her chance for revenge against the audience, decided to go after Wonder Woman. And decided to use the Holliday girls to do it!

So pulling the trap door, she dropped the girls down into the tunnel and knocked them out, dragging the lot of them into her car, and driving off to a cavern on Priscilla Rich's private property.

Along the way, Etta came to and telepathically called Wonder Woman for help! This led to Wonder Woman soon finding the place but unexpectedly, finding herself caught by none other than the Holliday girls themselves! Bound with her own rope, Wonder Woman was brought into the cave to meet the Cheetah, who explained that she has the power to identify the spirit animals within others, and the ability to control 'animals lower in the animal hierarchy.'

She revealed a machine she made specifically for bringing to the surface ones animal spirit, allowing the animal to take control of the victim, and boasted that she now had made the Holliday girls into her furry slaves!

Diana watched in horror as the Holliday girls donned fursuits, and at Cheetahs command, were leaving the cave to go on a killing spree. With Cheetah gloating that Wonder Woman was helpless to stop the girls from becoming murderers!

Diana, not about to let that happen, used her impressive athletic abilities of daring doo to flip over Cheetah despite having her arms and legs bound, and activated the machine for bringing out ones spirit animal, and used it on herself!

Thus, Diana's own spirit animal took hold of her and thus she became a lioness. With one terrible earth splitting roar, she ordered the animals to go away and in terror, the animal spirits of everyone in the cavern retreated, allowing the girls true selves to take hold.

Priscilla looked around, utterly confused, with no idea what was going on while the Holliday girls who saw how the machine worked as it was used on them one by one, used it in reverse, to revert Wonder Woman to normal.

Later in court, Diana would use the magic lasso on Priscilla Rich, proving that the dancer had no control over herself and was not responsible for the events that transpired, which would lead to her being sent to a mental help facility.

Unfortunately, the Cheetah would become a constant and reoccurring enemy for Wonder Woman. The spirit animal being impossible to punish, it would always be Priscilla Rich who would suffer the consequences for its actions. And since it could take hold whenever Priscilla felt bad about herself and experiences low self esteem (Such as whenever she was reminded of the terrible things the Cheetah did in her form) the Cheetah was impossible to do away with.

Doubly worrisome because Priscilla had no memory of what she did when the Cheetah took hold, and had no way of knowing.
Thus, it was easy enough for a seemingly reformed Priscilla Rich to go about her life, unaware that her spirit animal would frequently take control of her body and commit crimes using her form. The most notable of which being the hunting of young women whose spirit animals were zebras, whom she would kidnap and turn into her animal slaves. Keeping a herd of them in a secret basement she had built under her house.

Eventually, Priscilla would be brought to Reform Island, as no amount of mental help was able to supress the animal spirit from taking hold, and the Cheetah was otherwise impossible to hold. But even then the animal spirit would be impossible to hold, and would even go so far as to steal the girdle of invincibility (Secret of Amazonian invulnerability and the source of Hippolyta's own super strength.) in an effort to prove she was better than the Amazons, who channeling Priscillas sense of inferiority, the Cheetah saw as looking down on her.

The Priscilla Cheetah would serve as a constant thorn in Wonder Womans side in the Golden Age. A villain who Diana could not do away with. One who was impossible to rehabilitate, and was forcing an innocent woman into a life of crime.
Eventually, Diana would find a way to help Priscilla tame the animal spirit. Over years and years of work in building up her confidence and pride in her dancing ability. The freed Pricilla would eventually die peacefully of old age in her sleep.

The Priscilla Rich Cheetah is actually my favorite version of the villain. If for nothing else, but the sheer originality of the spirit animal angle, and the power to 'identify and control other spirit animals'
She will never be the most famous of the Cheetah's (That honor would go to the third Cheetah, who I will get to eventually.) But she sure has the most interesting origin.

Day 73: King Blotto
Lord of the cloud people. A race of beings who live on special clouds which showered in stardust, are solid enough for people to walk upon.
Their kingdom lies within a field of clouds hanging high in the stratosphere, the cloud people subsist on vegetables grown in the clouds. Using the periodic fall of stardust from a comet which passes the earth once every hundred years as fertilizer for their cloud crops.

The quiet and peaceful nation of cloud people lived in seclusion within their cloud kingdom until the invention of jets began to cause terrible ecological disasters for them. For when jets passed their peaceful kingdom, it would disrupt the cloud formations, splitting their landmass apart, destroying their crops, and sending their precious stardust plummeting into the ocean below.

With starvation certain in the coming years and the people now in dire straights, King Blotto commanded their greatest scientist to devise a solution!

Thus, Professor Bulbo of the cloud people invented 'Stardust gas' a refined gas from stardust waste, which has the means of instantly extinguishing any and every fire. Then when oncoming jets would approach their kingdom, they would simply fire a cloud of Stardust gas at the oncoming jet, lasso the plane so they can rescue the passenger, then dump the vehicle down into the ocean below.

The king deemed any jet pilots approaching their kingdom to be criminals, blaming them for the death and starvation of future generations. Thus the cloud guards using lanterns which emit anestesic gas, would render the pilots unconcious and trap them in the 'sticky chamber' a room made up of giant spider webs where the cloud people store their criminals.
Only setting the pilots free once every few days so they may pull the 'stardust reapers' giant plows which they used to till the clouds, and work the stardust into their fields.

The pilots complained of hunger and starvation, but King Blotto ignored their claims, convinced they were lies. For they would lavish the prisoners with cloud food, unaware that what was a grandiose feast for the cloud people, had the subsistence of air for the humans who had been imprisoned.

Sadly it seemed the situation was at a horrible inpasse. No matter how many more jets they warded off, the cloud people faced an impending food shortage in a mere fifty years due to the damage already caused. And the pilots they captured were doomed to die, unable to survive on the clouds like their captives.

They were doomed.

That is until Wonder Woman came to the rescue!

Following the course of the missing jets, Wonder Woman found out about the problem and flying under the cloud, she grasped it and used her incredible Amazonian might TO LIFT THE CLOUD KINGDOM INTO THE MESOSPHERE! Where they would be safe from the passing of jets and be allowed to live in peace!

Then flying back to Paradise Island, she borrowed a Sky Kanga and took off into space and chased after comets, collecting star dust which she showered upon the cloud kingdom upon her return!

The cloud people saved, Wonder Woman was able to persuade them to free the prisoners, whom she took with her, thus saving everyone from a desperate situation!

Putting aside the sheer fun of a secret cloud kingdom and the concept of cloud people, its moments like this that make me appreciate just how awesome Wonder Woman truly is, finding a way to resolve the problem in a way which will leave everybody happy and satisfied. Moments like this show how the ambassador of peace is the greatest of mediators.

Day 74: Serva
Magicians assistant to her identical twin 'Hypnota the magnificent' Serva worked alongside her twin brother performing acts of mysticism and amazement for the crowds!

One day however, tragedy struck when the pair were practicing a 'catching the bullet' trick, when Serva accidentally got the guns mixed up and shot her brother with a live round.

Thus, Hypnota took a bullet to the head and after a miracle surgery at the hands of Doctor Keene, He was saved. But after the operation, Hypnota developed hypnotic powers which to some might have been a blessing but all Hypnota could think of was betrayal and rage.

Rushing from the hospital, pausing only to stop at home to change so he felt more like himself, Hypnota confronted his twin and putting her under his trance, demanded to know why she shot him in cold blood.

Serva told him under that hypnotic power that it was an accident, saying that she had no intention of harming Hypnota. Now in a happier world, it would have been left at that. However, Serva went on to say that she loved her sister, and would never harm her.

Enraged, Hypnota snapped at Serva and under that hypnotic gaze, told Serva angrily that she had no sister! And when the trance wore off....Serva looked at Hypnota blankly, clueless as to who Hypnota was.

This made Hypnota snap. Aware of how his sister viewed him, he was convinced that the shot had been intentional. And even with his own hypnotic powers proving that wasn't the case. (And later, Wonder Woman using the magic lasso on Serva) he refused to believe otherwise.

Hypnota decided that all humanity is just plain scum, he would begin an operation kidnapping people and selling them to slavery for money. And hypnotizing his sister to be the front girl in the operation so that if it was discovered, she would take the fall. Which Hypnota felt she more than deserved.

What Hypnota did not count on was for Wonder Woman to be the one who discovered the truth and under the lasso, Serva revealed that the true mastermind was really 'her sister. Who wore a stupid gotee and pretended to be a man.'

Serva would eventually go on to enroll in the Holliday school and showing a talent on the ice as a figure skater, would go on to skate professionally. Eventually taking up hockey and playing in the professionals.

Hypnota however? He would be captured and imprisoned on Paradise Island. Eventually to escape with the help of Eviless, only to be imprisoned once more. Sadly the chance for redemption was never given to Hypnota for tragically, Marston left the book due to unavoidable circumstances, and his predecessor did not care the least for exploring Marstons themes. Thus, Hypnota would remain in the Golden Age, to never see redemption.

I like to imagine that Queen Marya offered Hypnota asylum on Planet Eros, and that he would go on to live a quiet life in trans mountania.
