Comic recommendation thread!
Okay friends, here is a tough question! o3o
If you had to recommend one comic - and only one comic - to a friend, what would it be and why?

Alison Bechdel's Dykes to Watch Out For. I bought The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For a year and a half ago and stayed up all night to finish the 400-page book when it arrived in the mail. It's such a fascinating look at 20+ years of lesbian-feminist history.

For a great alternative to GoT's treatment of women and their representation issues, I would suggest Rat Queens. It's beautifully drawn, has a great story, and comes complete with dragons.

Wish I had more comics budget, I want to read all of those posted thus far!

Let me give you another reason why sou should read Lazarus. This is the female protagonist. As you can see, they actually draw her body in a realistic way for a woman who spend her entire life (ok she's only 19) training.

I second the recommendation. Though I think all the Lazaruses (Lazari?) are genetically enhanced? Still, more women should be drawn like this!

All the family members are enhanced, especially in the Carlyle family considering that's their trade.

As a universal, there's little chance you won't like this type of recommendation, I'll go with Lumberjanes.

Btw, there's a Lazarus sale on Comixology this weekend. If anyone wants to get an account on that site, I can send you a referral link which will save you $5 on your first order over $10.

I have the hardcover First Collection. It's sitting on my shelf, next to the Young Avengers omnibus. It's such a thing of beauty.Since Greg Rucka liked one of my posts on Tumblr,I love it even more.
Re: Comic recommendation thread!
Gail Simone's Birds of Prey is always my go to. Chuck Dixon era's good, too, so you might as well list the entire run of the thing, but Gail Simone's run is distinctly the comic that got me into comics.
Re: Comic recommendation thread!
Runaways, because it is an amazing read with an abundance of both humor and drama. Plus it's one of those rare but important stories that tells kids who are usually not represented in fiction as main characters that they can be heroes no matter what the rest of the world says.
I could go on with the feels but I'll stop with just that much.
