Dragon Age: Show off your characters~

Update: Due to user request we're changing this from a DA:I specific thread to general Dragon Age thread, so please proceed by showing us your Wardens, Hawkes, and Inquisitors!

I always jump at the opportunity to show off my customizable babies game characters, so I thought I'd make a thread for us all to show off our varying flavors of Inquisitor!

This is NOT the place to talk about crucial plot stuff, merely to show off your baby and maybe provide some backstory, who you romanced (if anyone), and so on and so forth.

First up is ginger dwarf flavor:

I just got mods up and running on my PC, so I'm having fun with that. Beige pajamas begone! I've also modded in a longer ponytail (that looks better at certain angles than others), which is only exciting for me since she began with a short ponytail. Having a long ponytail now near the end of the game makes it look as if a lot of time has passed since Risalka [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] her adventure.

Risalka is a weapon/shield warrior. Initially I romanced Blackwall by accident since I flirt with everyone (I thought he was female elf/hume only). I ended up liking him, so I went with it until a certain twist caused me to break up with him. After that I found myself in [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], who I'd intended to be with initially!

My DA2 imported mage (Maye) Hawke gets honorable mention:

My main is [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], a dual-dagger rogue (like all my main DA characters.) There weren't really mods running much by the time I finished my playthrough with her so she was stuck with the beige jammies.

Iris celebrates her 30th birthday during the game. She comes from a fairly quiet Andrastian family and is the youngest child, but was close to her two younger cousins growing up. She is basically a big softie: she loves dancing and she is forever finding lost or injured animals to take care of. (This is to some extent how she gathered everyone for the Inquisition.) She romanced Cullen, because he was just too damn cute and awkward. I was not a Cullenite pre-DAI, but I'm pretty on board now. Varric's nickname for her would be 'Cookie' because she's also got a sweet tooth. She is definitely the 'softest' of my three rogue ladies from the three games (Cousland was tomboy warrior maiden and Hawke was just...tired.)

At some point I'm planning to replay with a dwarf warrior, and I made up an elven mage specifically to romance Dorian but I haven't gone back in yet (plus I need to tweak his face because I was going for ruggedly handsome and when I got into the game itself he just looked like JD from Scrubs. And no offense to Zach Braff but that is not who I pictured with Dorian.)

I feel like there should have been an in-game option to at least pick out the color/pattern of the jammies, or a mass effect style closet that let you choose from a few different Skyhold outfits. Oh well!

I like the detail about her taking in wounded animals (and how that translates to her as the Inquisitor). It's things like that which make me love hearing about peoples DA OCs. <3

I was a general Cullen fan since DA:O, but I've never loved him like some people do now haha. I really want them to make a romanceable dwarf companion in the next game, cause that's the one option that's been sorely lacking. Or, you know, have more than one dwarf companion in one game.

Risalka grew up in the Cadash crime family, and was a contact/liason for smuggling lyrium. Since she was something of a shrinking violet and a coward, her family sent her on a lot of non-risky jobs. The Conclave was pushing her boundaries, but she went anyway. When she became marked as Andraste's Chosen, she was pretty resistant and early on made a lot of cowardly/unconfident decisions. She's an atheist, not believing in the Stone (having lived on the surface all her life) and thinks all this Andraste business is a load of crap. Still, she eventually matures and rises to the occasion and steps into the role of Inquisitor, slowly exposing her sarcasm and decisive nature as she adjusts to her new role.

She's bisexual and very flirty! One of my favorite scenes was when Cassandra approaches a female inquisitor after you've flirted with her a bit, all flustered and nervous. She's like "wow, you're great and e-everything, you're really fantastic! I-I'm soooo sorry BUT I DON'T SWING THAT WAY OMG I'M SORRY." I was not expecting DAI to endear Cass to me so thoroughly, but I really view Risalka and Cass as headcanon besties. I want to replay just so I can romance her ahaha.

edit: Oh, and in my "canon play-throughs" my Warden was a Dalish Rogue and my Hawke was a Human Mage, so I decided Dwarf Warrior had to be my next canon character to balance it out. x)

I'll probably play Qunari as my canon in the next game, because I feel weirdly guilty if I show too much attention to one race/class. IDK WHY I'M WEIRD.

Cass is adorable. ^^ I hope they do have a dwarf romance at some point...I know a lot of people were hoping that Varric would be an option this time (and I probably would have been interested!) but I guess there's still too much baggage with you-know-who.

I honestly like Varric as an exclusively friend-companion. I think there are new characters they can create to fill that romance role, and I hope they don't bring back Varric as a companion in the next DA game. @_@

I'd like a little break from him lol. Maybe a cameo, but I don't need him to play a major role for a third game in a row.

I'd love to see Sigrun come back from the DAO Awakening expansion and actually give her a chance to develop. I also really want to see Velanna again.

edit: omg and of course I need more SHALE.

Two questions...

1) Can I post my character from Dragon Age: Origins? I'm still behind in the series.

2) How do I take a screenshot? I have the game on Steam so I think there's some built in way. Is that how you are all doing this?

Of course! I would like to post my (many) DA:O/DA2 characters as well. Maybe I'll change the thread title to something more inclusive.

I take screenshots by hitting the "print screen" button on my PC. The game should automatically save the  screenshots in a folder for you, usually Documents>Bioware>Dragon Age(Origins, 2, Inquisition)>Screenshots.

Then, just upload to an image hosting site and share your heart out!

On Steam F12 usually creates screen caps.

My first playthroughs are always "MY" characters, but when I learned about DAI I decided I needed to replay characters who would create the Clusterfuck of Thedas instead of MY characters.

So MY Warden is a female Cousland, dual dagger rogue, who romanced Alistair, saved the Circle, placed Anora on the throne, saved Andraste's Ashes and installed Balen as King in Orzammar. She also convinced Alistair to do the Dark Ritual with Morrigan, because she couldn't bear the thought of losing him.

My DA import Warden is a male Amell, saved the Circle, destroyed the Ashes, freed the mages, tried to marry Anora and had Alistair executed. He romanced Morrigan, performed the Dark Ritual, and after defeating the Blight pursued her and entered the Eluvian at her side.

MY Champion is a dual dagger rogue who sent Bethany to the Circle, romanced Anders and then killed him when he destroyed the Chantry. She sided with the Circle, kept Fenris as an ally despite that, killed the Dalish trying to protect Merrill, and helped her construct the Eluvian.

MY DA import Champion is an asshole. Is bitter about magic because he blames it for Bethany's death in the Dark Roads. Romances Fenris and will side with Meredith when I get there.

My initial plan for DA2 was to have that playthrough also be a mage, but in my head, Meredith only gets as bad as she does, because the Champion enables her. And I just didn't FEEL right with that story with my mage. So I decided to go through again, reverting to a dual dagger rogue, and NOW it feels natural to the narrative in my head.

I STILL haven't played DAI but hopefully I should be able to purchase it soon, so I'll know more about Inquisitor then!

I had a pretty sweet Dalish assassin in Origins. She hated humans for killing her parents and kinda wanted to let the Darkspawn kill them all off, except the chief of her tribe ordered her to go fight with them. I even looked at the language and came up with an elvish name that was a pun meaning both "quick death" and "death to humans." Alas, when I was about a third of the way through the game she and her world were wiped from existence by a computer failure that required the hard drive to be reformatted, and I never had the heart to start over...

Cass is so precious that I want to give her a bear hug all the time. That rejection is the greatest romance-related scene in all DA IMO. Her attempt at getting the Inquisitor's attention is too cute.

You've got quite the collection! I have about 50 thousand wardens, and then like one legit hawke and inquisitor lol.

My first playthroughs are generally my canon playthrough. I'm usually a goodie two shoes tho.

D'aww, I know that feel. I replayed origins with my Dalish rogue dude about three times, and DA2 was the same. Because my hard drive kept crashing. And I wanted my full playthrough for DA3, but it turns out I didn't need it cause of the keep. -_-;;

It's been my favorite so far, though I thought the last Josephine mission was pretty d'aww worthy. I can't wait to romance Cass (I wiiiiiish she was bisexual, oh well). My next playthrough was going to be with a douchey human rogue that's got the Andraste stick up his butt and sides with the Templars and is generally an asshat, but I don't really want to do that to Cassandra. Dragon Age, bow-Hawke and a romance with Merrill. A rivalmancy (wish they'd kept those, and rivalries in general, it made having negative influence have a point). Oh, and a renegade personality, some of the dialogue options were so hilariously blunt.

Haha, we've had all the same romances.

My dalish dude romanced Zevran, my mage Hawke lady romanced Merrill, but with my warrior dwarf chick I romanced Blackwall and Josie. x)

It's so much fun making all those different kinds of characters and matching them up with different romances. I reallllyyyy wanna rivalmance Merrill. I realized recently that all my playthroughs were too nice. So I gotta disagree with people and raise up the tension lol.

I just want everyone to love me... ;A;

@wondercube Merrill has a thorny side you don't really see on a friendship path. She gives as good as she gets, unlike her conversations with Fenris.

I only managed to be a rival with Aveline and Merrill in the end, I might have to do an extra-mean playthrough :<.

It's sort of like doing a darkside run in kotor, hard at first then it gets easier and you start looking for the evillest option. Fry, gizka, fryyyy!!!!!!

I still have to gather my screen-shots (and take some new ones), but I would Love to show off my DA characters! He sound with an audible squee. I'm currently replaying Origins in an attempt to get tangible save files for my "canon" to match my tapestry in DA: Keep. Then, I'll do DA:II and then, DA:I. That, and I've been testing out the various Origins. I've done four out of six, at present. Dwarf Commoner & City Elf are all that's left.

I still need to get the DLC for Inquisition. The paid DLC, that is. I've been waiting for it all to be done with. And, you know, finish the game. I have this problem where I start things and never finish. The fact I've got some serious restart-itis isn't helping with that.

In any event, my canon heroes are...

Daylen Amell [Human Male (Mage)]
Marian Hawke [Iconic Female (Mage)]
Maxwell Trevelyan [Human Male (Mage)]

Daylen was a Paragon Warden. He romanced Morrigan, had snu-snu, had Dark Ritual snu-snu, and joined her in the Eluvian. Alistair was his BFF in Origins and became King by marrying Anora. Nathaniel was his BFF in Awakening and, so far as my head-canon is concerned, his Warden-Constable (second in command.) Doing all the Paragon resolutions for the various quests takes a lot of effort and patience, but I consider it worth it. Thedas is kind of a shit-hole and I made it a better place.

Marian had a Diplomatic personality and romanced Anders. Naturally, she was a supporter of both the Mage underground and the Circle of Magi. Ultimately, she sided with Orsino. Before he inexplicably turned into a Harvester, defying all logic. Her brother, Carver, became a Grey Warden and stopped being such a little prick. If I recall correctly, she was on friendly terms with her companions - except Merrill. My opinion on Merrill doesn't seem to be popular, though. Also, Hawke & Varric are platonic life partners and it's totes adorbs. Or, alternatively, Aveline is the dad, Varric is the mom, and Hawke is the oldest daughter.

I'll opt out of rambling on Maxwell, until I'm done, though. However, Max and Cassbae are OTP. He's a Knight-Enchanter, she's a Seeker. It's true love.

But, enough of my rambling.

I still need to re-do Lyna Mahariel with a face I'm happy with. That and do the other two Origins. Also, I don't see a point in posting Marian Hawke, since I just used the default/iconic.

I like your screenshots, you've got a real knack for creating characters. Mine all end up looking a bit uncanny valley. I especially like the mage chap.

The next Inquisition DLC is coming out tomorrow, and Jaws of Hakkon is pretty cheap on Origin. I'd definitely say Hakkon is worth getting at least. I understand we're getting at least one more after that involving... a particular character.

Well, Origins had Witch Hunt so Inquisition is probably going to need... let's call it Wolf Hunt? There's also the fact I think we're leading up to Razikale, sometime soon. The location of the next DLC pack is just lending further credence to the idea. I know the whole deal, I just haven't finished it, on my own. So, don't worry about spoiling me.

Thank you for the compliments! I'm really not happy with Elissa, though. She seems kind of generic to me. I'm going to make her a Reaver, so I wanted a kind of gothic look. Daylen is an eternal work in progress, as well. I'm never perfectly happy with him. Duran was probably the easiest, though. I just used Endrin and Bhelen's facial structure as reference.

The presets are your friend. Duran took me three restarts and a couple of hours. So, patience is, as well.

My scars disappeared on Inquisition, again, and I can't figure out how to get them to show back up. So, my Inquisitor'll be a bit.

And Dagna might be my favorite NPC character in DA. I REALLY would love her to become a companion eventually, and maybe even the first legit Dwarf love interest (dwarves need love too ;A;). Another part of me would really love to see Sigrun again and give her an actual chance to develop/be interesting (All the awakening characters had such little screen time, but Sigrun in particular felt lacking).

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is another beloved Warden of mine (I need to upload better screens). He was kind of arrogant and cocky, but ultimately a big softy/good guy. I used the Equal Love mod and romanced Alistair, and then Cyprien became "Queen of Ferelden" at the end of the game IT WAS PERFECT HA.

I also made a mod for the Cousland family, since it REALLY bugged me that my character was black but his family was all white lol. Like, c'mon people.

I could never get the mom's skin texture to look right, so she always looked blotchy lol. But I liked how the rest turned out. I wanted to added it to the PC modding nexus for DAO, but I dunno how to do that. I spent waaaaay too much time on that mod for how little the family is featured in the game, but it was really bugging me.

edit: ALSOOOOO, I haven't beat DAI yet, so no spoilers to the ending please! I'm taking my sweet time exploring/leveling/crafting sexy armors/weapons for my party before I head into the arbor wilds.

I really liked Sigrun, too. But, Scout Harding, though. In general, I think DA needs more Dwarf & Elf party members. There are only barely more Dwarves than Qunari.

Thank you, much. I'm glad my designs are decent enough. I like your characters, as well. But, I'm going to absolutely straight with you. Cyprien totally looks like Wayne Brady. The Father / Bryce kind of looks like John Witherspoon, too. So, either I've taken too many pain pills, or you're the best Dragon Age character creator, ever. I applaud you on making the mod, though. That stuff is beyond me, but at least you got your family to look like a family. It's nice knowing it's not just my OCD that hates that. My favorite of yours, though, is your Hawke. I think she's awesome.

I always felt super guilty when flirting with Harding haha. I mean, I flirted with everyone I could, but her in particular... She's risking her life to scout new territories for me, and I roll in like a douche and wink at her lol. I always wanted her to shoot me a derisive, withering glance lololol. I'm a horrible person.

And I don't see Wayne Brady so much, but I can see some Witherspoon. Cyprien actually ended up looking almost exactly like my friend BJ who is beautiful and flawless, so that always weirds me out. Freudian much? teehee

And I'm glad you like my Hawke! She is everything. Getting to recreate her in DAI was... way too exciting for me! She's also the only Asian person in all of Thedas, apparently. x)

Branka was a Ghoul. She stopped counting a while ago. Therefor, ALL THE DWARVES ARE TOTES ADORBS.

Don't feel guilty, just give her a raise and Love her. 'Cuz, she's wonderlovely. And, she's very good at her job. That's an important thing, too.

I showed your character to my friend and she can confirm that he's Wayne Brady. Ergo, your friend BJ is Wayne Brady. I'm not quite sure what the Freud is going on with you and him, but I ship it. I ship it like FedEx.

Since you created Wayne Brady, you should help me with the rest of my characters, Best Character Creator.

I saw that. I think she's the only East Asian player character I've ever seen, too. Bonus points for unique.

I suppose I could make a DAO head morph and upload it to the mod nexus, but the head morphs are difficult to make in the DA Toolset. The controls aren't as fluid as they are in CC... I think there's a way to make a head in CC and then like... decapitate your character and get a head morph that way. But I'd need to learn how to do that. And I have no clue how be people "save sliders" for DAI, but apparently that possible too.

I must resist the urge to dump all character screen shots ever in this thread. I love screen shots waaaaay to much. I need to install flycam for DAI so I can really take some srs screen shotssss.

And I would REALLY love to see a DA game set in a country that isn't European-based. Or if it is European-based, it would be cool for them to just have that country mostly populated by not-white people lololol. I think Rivain (Isabela and Duncan's homeland) and Antiva (Zevran, Josephine) are pretty brown, but we haven't gotten a meaningful look at those countries yet. Hopefully soon!

I know there's some Qunari land across the sea that we've barely heard of/seen, so I'd be intrigued to explore that more...

Also, Ferelden = England, Orlais = France, Antiva = Italy (?), Rivain = Spain (?), and Tevinter = ????

I think Nevarra might be Germany? I have no clue, buh. Ferelden and Olais are pretty blatant, and I always imagined Zevran as a suave Italian lol.

You could always screenshot or write down the specific slider mark on each variable. I've seen [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] done that way. That sounds quite a bit easier, I think.

I'm not against that, though. lol I would, too. But, all mine seem to have disappeared. The good ones, anywho. Could always do an imgur or photobucket album or what have you. I should prolly stop enabling you, though. xD

Tevinter is, apparently, The Byzantine Empire. The Anderfels are Germany circa The Holy Roman Empire. Nevarra is Prussia. Antiva & Rivain are both Spain and Italy. Antiva is The European part. Rivain is the part where Europe, Africa, and The Middle East all blended, together. The Free Marches, though, I'm not sure of.
