Random suggestions
Couple of thoughts!
- Create a subforum where people can introduce themselves to the community. Encourage new users to post a thread here. If desired, come up with a short list of geeky questions to ask in case people just don't know what to type (favorite Star Trek captain, who you'd cast for a particular superhero, and so on).
- Create and track roleplaying efforts in a separate subfourm. Someone provided me a link to the forums before, but I signed up because I was interested in the DnD campaign. I know that you don't have a lot of space in the current campaign, but maybe it would be beneficial to create an area for people to discuss the campaign, post summaries, and even character sheets or a list of participating members. That way, voyeurs like myself would be able to follow what is occurring.
Also, since you're looking for GM/DMs, it may help organize different campaigns. If someone wants to do a GURPS variant, it would allow people to organize and manage their particular campaign without overlap. You could also assign moderation to a particular subforum so that they can sticky or moderate posts without relying on the larger group of moderators/admins. - There are a couple of places where the template breaks. In particular, the post profile of each message expands beyond the allowed width. I was trying to identify the CSS that you could use to fix it, but the problematic elements appear to lack classes. Sadness.
If you'd like some help in that area, please feel free to reach out to me. - Remove the map from the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. I just noticed this, and it's a bit creepy. I can see where current members are, and while I'm comfortable sharing my location I'm certain that other people are not.

Re: Random suggestions
I second the RP forum idea! With an OOC sub-forum, possibly?

I'll check in with Aesta and see if they're okay with it. Can't imagine why not.
Re: Random suggestions
I didn't realize that creepy map was a thing! Thank you so much for pointing it out. It is now super, super dead. D:<
I'm making an RP forum + OOC sub-forum this morning. My days off are Mon/Tues + I have family in town right now, so I'll try to set up forum guidelines for them this morning, too, but might not have time 'til tonight. Apologies, & please bear with the construction dust! x__x
I'd love to help organize DMs, but definitely don't have the time. A third mod specific to the RP forum would be fantastic, & with their modding purview a bit limited, maybe they wouldn't mind helping to organize things & sticky threads & such in there. Note that mod applications are currently open (link in sig), & I'd love someone to volunteer as tribute for this!
PixelScientist, I set you up a PM.

Yeah, that thing was a bit disconcerting. It wasn't very accurate (I was logged in at one location and it was showing me as being somewhere about thirty miles away), but it's precise enough to determine the general area where I live and work.aesta wrote:I didn't realize that creepy map was a thing! I'm not sure why the site would offer something like that. It seems terribly invasive!
I'll consider it. If no one with experience offers, let me know. We just finished a major milestone at work, so my availability has improved significantly. I cannot promise that this will be the case moving forward; I know that we have some pretty big projects coming up on the console that will require a lot of effort and time on my part.aesta wrote:Note that mod applications are currently open (link in sig), & I'd love someone to volunteer as tribute for this!
You should have your reply. Thank you for the heads up!aesta wrote:PixelScientist, I set you up a PM.

Re: Random suggestions
I noticed that when linking things (like a picture or something), the linked picture/page is the virtually the same color as the regular text.
Like this: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Is there a way to change the color of links so they stand out? Or at least have them underlined, so people can see it's different than the rest of the text?

I should be able to tweak that right now! For the time being, I'll add an underline; later we should implement a design with a high degree of contrast between background color, text, and CTAs like links.wondercube wrote:Is there a way to change the color of links so they stand out? Edit: You should see the changes now. The code only applies to links within post messages. I'll continue to tweak throughout the day.

Perfect, thank you! The underline is good enough for me, since it makes the link pop. But if there are more improvements to be made, that's wonderful too!PixelScientist wrote:Edit: You should see the changes now. The code only applies to links within post messages.
