MIA and Apologies
I will be back to read the backlog of discussions at some point over the next few days, so you may be seeing replies to old stuff.
Apologies for going MIA, we have had some major difficulties the last few weeks and I had little access to the Treeehouse until the wee hours when exhausted and a little (more) goofy.
Stepdad had a series of small strokes, so that has been tough. He is doing better now, though, and it looks like little lasting effects. We just have to get him into healthier habits! We also had the MrMan's book come back in it's entirety with a required 14 day turnaround for final edits. Gotta say that was tons of fun (NOPE). And my class began, with a text I had never read, and never want to read again. Anyone have any ideas of how to make the philosophes (the overly pontificating dead white guys like Rousseau & Locke & Engels) fun?
But back in the swing of things today after finalizing plans and indexes.
Apologies to anyone I missed, and to Cain, especially, for being away from Booktrope 'til tomorrow night!
Until then, hugs to those who can stand them.

Welcome back!
1) cool thing about forums is we can talk about things FOREVER and it's not as weird as replying to a 5+ day old comment on TMS.
2) glad to hear stepdad is okay, that is legitimately terrifying and sending you ALL the hugs
3) There is no way to make white guys who were no-fun while alive more-fun long after they're dead. Maybe someone on youtube read their stuff out loud and then auto-tuned it? Might make it... well, tolerable, anyway.
4) Kitten seems displeased to be included in your new avi! That or they're plotting, lol

Thank you! Great to see you here
And yes, we were really worried for dad for a while, but it seems that if we can keep him off the tobacco and on his meds he might be okay. It's still pretty scary, actually.

Yeah, he just wasn't too happy that the Big Daddy thought he was oh-so-cute sleeping on moms pillow with her that he woke us both up taking a picture. Just a little disgruntled. But he is nearly 13 years old, so cranky is allowed and expected.
Now, if it were the youngers, it might be plotting. And executing those plans. They do that. Often.
I showed my class this:
And Park Avenue: Money, Power, and the American Dream; which they loved/hated. Those worked pretty well. Now I am considering Mad Max (1979) or The Avengers (2012) to see if they can apply the theories to more contemporary cultural media.
Incorporating things (like artworks, etc.) they can identify with seemed to help a lot.

Glad things turned out okay for you!
And I've got nothing. I have no idea how to make philosophy fun whatsoever. Get everyone high maybe.
